Death of Pittsburgh twin infant

Anyone following this story? A close friend of the family (and PhD student)is charged with killing the infant in her care, as well as harming the other. Very sad.

That's bonkers

There's not much in that Daily Mail article. A local paper would probably be better, OP, if you're up interested in following the case.

That is absolutely nuts. A formerly law-abiding citizen and long-time friend of the parents violently attacked not one but two newborn infants? I cannot fathom. So sorry for the parents.

Absolute insanity.

She attacked the GENITALS of a 6 week old boy? WTH?!!! And the parents then left the other newborn in her care rather than taking him along? Something does not seem right re: this story. How did the parents imagine the first boy was injured?

The parents have suffered one of the worst things that can happen in life. No need to blame them. News accounts said they didn't understand the cause of the injury, which is why they rushed the baby to the hospital. The alleged murderer was a trusted family friend who they probably never dreamed would harm their children in a million years -- the sort of person who is usually exalted on DCUM because they come from a good family, are getting a PhD, etc.

I don't know if she did anything or not. Her eyes look dazed or vacant - which is understandable if she were innocent, considering the circumstances and the charges.

Total guess on my part, but schizophrenia often emerges in someone’s twenties. It’s a horrific story.

Probably. She was PhD candidate in Clinical Psychology no less. Those spots are so outrageously hard to get.

PhD candidate in psychology and daughter of a cardiologist. Wow.

This is very insane. WTF is going on with people? Something similar happened in SoCal two months ago, lemme find it. A mom of two killed her baby daddy, then drove at full speed on the free way, threw her two kids out of the moving vehicle, and crashed into a tree.

The younger one died and the older one survived.

If it were schizophrenia, she wouldn’t have been able to come up with a lie to protect herself from charges, would she (she came up with the story about going to get a bottle and the baby falling)? Attacking/murdering newborns would be the result of a psychotic break and it doesn’t sound like that’s what was going on.
