DD is a junior Class of 2025 at TJ and has a GPA of 4.2 - any idea on where she is possibly placed in the class ranking. Trying to look at college options and from our understanding kids are compared against their HS peers. Thank you in advance. |
What is her unweighted GPA? |
I would assume 4.2 since an unweighted would be below 4.0 |
This is her weighted GPA |
what is the unweighted gpa out of 4.0? |
OP here not sure of unweighted |
from another thread:
According to TJ school profile, the Class of 2022 Final Grade Point Averages (8th semester) ranged from 3.255 to 4.663 Based on the multiple Naviance scattergrams for TJ, a weighted average of 4.65 or above is top 01% 4.64 or above is top 02% 4.60 or above is top 05% 4.55 or above is top 10% 4.53 or above is top 15% 4.50 or above is top 25% 4.45 or above is top 33% 4.40 or above is top 40% 4.38 or above is top 50% 4.35 or above is top 60% 4.33 or above is top 66% 4.30 or above is top 75% 4.00 or above is top 90% 3.75 or above is top 95% 3.25 or above is top 100% https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/15/1200980.page |
The weighted GPA is skewed because so many students take PE pass/fail. MIT might not care but other schools see that a desperate attempt. |
This is final GPA not when applying. |
Maybe minus .1 for all from above for the end-of-Junior year? |
How many at the bottom of the class can afford to take PE pass/fail? None. On the other hand, top students dont need the PE grade, especially if they expect a perfect overall unweighted. If Colleges take notice, they would interpret it that way. |
that's a fair adjustment |
Since 2025 is the first class with admissions changes, wouldn't the GPAs be lower and do you think colleges will look at unweighted GPAs more? |
I would imagine the opposite. The new policy picks the very top students not just those who could afford test prep. |
OMG you guys. PLEASE don't pollute this thread too with that same back & forth!!!! |
