Was thinking about this earlier today and was wondering why Texas and Florida have only sent bus loads of migrants to DC, and not to Montgomery County.
Montgomery is exactly the kind of place Texas and Florida SHOULD be sending them. There’s a well-funded array of social services to handle the needs of newly arrived migrants. The population is overwhelmingly progressive and would welcome more immigrant POC with open arms. County taxpayers would willingly pay higher taxes for programs that served new arrivals, and would similarly approve of zoning changes to allow more subletting of domiciles and higher density housing. How does one get in touch with the state government officials in TX and FL who are involved in relocating migrants? Because I would want them to start sending busses here rather than DC. We are much better equipped to serve them than DC. |
| Ok troll. |
| No, thank you. |
| Put your home address on TX billboard. They’ll find you. |
Do you have access to the internet? I am confident that with some effort you could find what you seek. |
100% sincere, not a troll. I live in Montgomery myself (Chevy Chase View, specifically) and I know that many of my immediate neighbors and most people in the county support immigrants and hate what TX and FL is doing to them. So we need to lobby those officials in TX and FL to send them here, where they receive the help they need. |
I’m a single person. I don’t have the resources of a county. But the county I live in has plenty of those resources, and more importantly, can afford more. And the tax base will support it. So let’s bring them here. We can handle the burden. |
So they can stay at your house? Hundreds of them? |
Let me guess the tax base that you barely contribute to. |
Who’s we? Clearly not you. |
| They are here and it's maxing out our resources. All the shelters are full and they are doing hotel placements. |
Get off your fat ass and use Google if you actually care so strongly. I actually don’t care if you give immigrants work visas and have them come here. Same as towns in Kansas and South Dakota who actually have asked Texas to send them there because they need the labor. |
Do you have a spare bedroom? Go ahead. No ones stopping you. |
| DC resident here and I’ll see what our Mayor can do to bus them to your County. |
You are being so obnoxiously Trumpian |
