My husband and I enjoy wine with dinner. I’m trying to lose a few pounds and will give it up if it really makes a difference. Experiences out there? |
Yes. Sadly, those calories count. About 120 per glass, depending on type of wine. |
Of course they count. More than calories, alcohol bloats me up. |
Yes, of course it counts. Those are empty calories nutritionally. |
Unfortunately. They count a lot. THere is a lot of sugar in most wines. |
carb-4 calories
protein-4 calories also fat- 9 calories alcohol 7 calories for 1 gram |
Answer isn't that simple. Generally, wine and liquors only have a percentage of usable calories from the published calorie count. It's a complicated process meeting your body excretes it as acetic acid, not as energy.
But in general, if you drink one glass of wine slowly, you probably are going to absorb those calories as alcohol. If you drink something really quickly or many drinks over time, it's fewer calories per drink. I know that's convoluted but it is true The other thing is that your body perceives alcohol as a toxin and moves every bit of its energy to ridding it. So instead of burning calories, your body is completely focused on excreting the toxin. |
I really enjoy wine too but if you want to get in shape you need to really cut out alcohol.
To lose weight it’s just empty calories so that means less energy delivering calories if you are counting. If I were just trying to lose weight I probably would skip dinner now and again and have wine instead. If you are trying to get in shape alcohol is not an option except for special occasions. Sucks - but there is no strength/fitness building plan I have found that includes alcohol weekly. |
uh, yeah. how do you not know this? All sugar and carbs. Go to any diet center and you will be told to scrap the wine, carbs, sugar, etc. first thing |
Why wouldn’t calories from wine count? |
Of course they count! You'd be better off switching to a hard alcohol + zero cal mixer. Like vodka soda with lime, etc if you want the buzz.
I've also seen some lower calorie/alcohol wines available. I'm not sure how they taste or compare to real wine, but might be worth a try. |
Yes. You do realize it is made from grapes, which have a lot of sugar in them? |
Wtf. Are you serious lol? |
Before people make fun of her, I'd read up on the issue a little more |
