Where to find out about PSAT-10 scores across FCPS?

Anonymous
I don’t know if 1200 on PSAT-10 is OK. It seems good but maybe not by FCPS standards. My kid’s grades are all over the map (they even out around C depending on the day, sometimes lower) and I am not sure where to guide them.

They are currently in therapy and the therapist says HS is not important. Grades do not matter.

1200 seems pretty good but the GPA.

I’m ok if they don’t go to college but they need a viable alternative. Living at home rent free is not an option.

Here you go. 1200 is better than average in FCPS.

Yeah that is great score. TJ kids seem to be only scoring around 1250 on the PSAT-10, so you are in good company.

Thanks. I wonder though if they can’t get their act together to get good grades in HS if college is worth it. They are clearly capable, bright but don’t work. -OP

Sounds like potential executive functioning issues. I don't think the therapist is doing your kid any favors telling them HS and grades don't matter.

Therapist is probably trying to take that pressure off so that the kid can concentrate on other more pressing issues.

When do they normally take this test and is it given at school or do you have to schedule it yourself

OP - NOVA is a great place for students to get it together if HS was a bit shaky. They get time to mature a bit more and show better grades. Hopefully, you can allow your DC to live at home after HS for a few years even if that can’t be the long term plan.

Give your DC the support they need right now to work through the issues that are currently problematic.

I though that is what the pdf showed---was 1370 the average in 2022? what is it in 2023?
PS My kid got 1250 in 10th with all As and toughest courses-they do need to prep for PSAT11 and SAT though to get the score up--so I think your kid has the potential but if EF issues that needs to be worked on first.

Yeah that was for 2022.

2023 is around 1250, which is still really good.

How can I find the College Board report for another NOVA district?

120 point drop is significant but not at all unexpected.

We’ve discussed NoVA but I’m not convinced that will be a good fit either.

BTW it looks fairly certain that they will fail at least one class. Preparing for summer school. Got some info on it today.
