I don’t know if 1200 on PSAT-10 is OK. It seems good but maybe not by FCPS standards. My kid’s grades are all over the map (they even out around C depending on the day, sometimes lower) and I am not sure where to guide them. They are currently in therapy and the therapist says HS is not important. Grades do not matter. 1200 seems pretty good but the GPA. I’m ok if they don’t go to college but they need a viable alternative. Living at home rent free is not an option.
Here you go. 1200 is better than average in FCPS. https://fcta.org/FxCo/Schools/2022_fcps_CollegeBdRpt.pdf
Thanks. I wonder though if they can’t get their act together to get good grades in HS if college is worth it. They are clearly capable, bright but don’t work. -OP
Sounds like potential executive functioning issues. I don't think the therapist is doing your kid any favors telling them HS and grades don't matter.
Therapist is probably trying to take that pressure off so that the kid can concentrate on other more pressing issues.
