I remember him crying when he was discussing his child's health condition in the context of the ACA debates in the first Trump administration. He maybe also cried when there was a school shooting (Uvalde maybe?).
Jimmy's usual shtick is sort of cool sarcasm, so when he breaks and cries, it usually seems very genuine. He seems to me to be actually a pretty decent guy under it all. He's a former alter boy and still a practicing Catholic, although the MAGA folks wouldn't acknowledge him as a man of faith, I'm sure.

In what way, Harris voter? Please tell us what specifically you found inappropriate about what he said? The reality is that his comment had little to do with the person's death, and more to do with the circus surrounding that persons death. That you are more offended by someone pointing that out, that the actual circus being made, well, that says a lot of about you, Harris voter.

Kimmel's comments that got him in trouble were classic gaslighting. That was the problem, and from the clip I saw of his monologue, it is still the problem.

Initially, he implied that the kid was MAGA and that MAGA was trying to disassociate themselves from him. That was blatantly false.
In the clip I saw of last night's monologue, he did not apologize for saying that. He said he was sorry if he was insensitive, but never apologized for gaslighting.
