This is a fun thread. I love the Tumi backpack one- I am an architect and have a navy blue leather one because frankly when you are on a construction site, you need both hands free to point and tell the male contractors where they messed up! I do love a good tailored backpacks for my laptop because laptop bags are just hideous.

My bags:

Valentino (non-construction site bag)
Longchamp Le Pliage LGP (gym bag)
India Hicks crossbody (weekend bag)

Aspirational next purchase- Smythson - what does that mean?

Fun, creative, satirical, does not take herself too seriously but often offends those who do. Luckily, cares more about sharing her witty insights with the mirthful. NP

Love their shoes especiallybut the bags are nice too. Good quality. The vara bags wmight look a little silly for women in their 40s bc of the little bows. The ferragamo studio bag is my work bag and it's held up well.

Do people still wear these? I think sahm who uses it as a diaper bag now because she had one when she was in college in an east coast city 15 years ago.

I wear mine sometimes but lol that’s exactly why I still use it.

These threads are always an interesting anthropological study for me. I grew up very MC but am rich now. Outside of dCum, I would have no idea what any of these brands are except for Kate Spade because the street vendor knockoffs used to be so ubiquitous when I lived in NY, and there was that one bag that there was a Sex and the City episode about—I think that was a Birkin bag?
I guess people I know must be into this stuff but I honestly never would notice! Someone gave my 10 year old a Michael Kors purse but I doubt she fits the above stereotype!

"Is that a designer bag? Because it looks like an adult diaper bag."

I have an insert in my YSL shopper. It has a croc print which I love but most people don't think its a luxury bag.

I love it. I have an insert so I can find stuff but even at my age I may not have diapers in it, I do have a lot of stuff in it (in case others need things, tissues, hand sanitizer, two different perfume sprays, rain hat, extra shopping bag…)

The only other bag I want is a Chanel Boy Bag and I'm waiting for Christian Louboutin to make a bag with the red rubber bottom that I will want to carry. These are goods I can carry into my old lady phase of life.

My wallet is still MK.

I’m 43... and wear a black mini Jansport backpack. What does that say about me? Flame away

On point. Tumi backpack says I’m busy and I’m tired and I am an adult wearing a backpack because it’s easier in my back than a tote. I need an upgrade but I’ll probably just buy another tumi backpack because I don’t know where to begin looking for a decent handbag.

I've found my people!

Sheesh this spoke to me after being delayed in the airport for 6 hours after a week long work trip!

Kind of true- I gave it to our nanny to use as a diaper bag

You're a consultant. Or someone else who travels (traveled?) like 200+ days out of the year. You may carry 2 laptops. You have designer bags at home, but no way are you messing with digging through a big open NF or similar when you're trying to get from the client site to the airport and through security in record time. No time for form over function. Keep it moving people!

Difference? What does their spouse do - if they work in a field with some money - then Cuyana or something like it (nice bag with no logos). If the spouse works in a non-profit - then the NPR tote win the day.

Yep. My sister works in academia but spouse is in biglaw. Carries cuyana and similar for work . Uses npr bag for groceries and errands.

Ha! DH is in big law and I’m an academic who uses an LV Epi Neverfull. Field also matters. Law and business schools mean more expensive bags.

You’ve got money to burn and you like classic styles with an edge. You are completely out of touch with the average American lifestyle.

Guilty as charged!

Haha. Another take: you are rich but you only want other rich people to know it

Ha! That is spot on. Stealth wealth. Like when you see someone super schlepy at the grocery store but recognize their sweatpants as being $350.

I usually carry something handmade I bought at a fair trade store or similar. I don’t really care what that says about me.
