right back at you. I m not saying we should be on the top team. I am saying bsc is lying in their promotional material to attract kids to subsidize the club.

So leave, PP, clearly your DD isn’t and never will be good enough for ECNL 1 at BSC.

Maybe you’re saying no or few promotions at or after U14, but that’s true at all ECNL clubs.
"

My point is you are not a 'Parent of a kid on the team." You are a parent of a kid on the ECNL 1 team.

Stop the party line BSC crap; Also you came over when they went 11 v 11 from Rush. It is very obvious as to who you are despite how you think you are all stealth.

The original issue I had was not how much time is devoted to the team. That is not a huge difference. It is that whomever from BSC was writing is lying when they say promotion happens from within. It does not. Call me mad, angry, drunk, what you will. Yes I am mad. It is infuriating to see that line over and over.

Ok big guy (and I am sure you are the big guy from team 1) how many times has your team practiced with ours? (2 scrimmages one of which Kevin didnt watch is the answer) How many kids have come up in the free flowing way that email from Kevin/BSC stated? 0. Your stats. 1 came up at u 13. Right before 11 v 11. Totally agree and I cited it. U12 defender was playing most of the time with top team. Athletic but raw and came from OUTSIDE club and was up within a year. Your U14 was promoted 1. when a couple kids quit and 2. she was on the 2nd team 1 month. Came from outside. THERE IS NO PROMOTION FROM WITHIN WHICH WAS MY POINT. and a response to a crappy BSC propaganda email.

It is worse the year up. I dont have visibility into other years like I am sure you do big guy. My statements were 100% accurate. You are on the first team telling me how it is on our team. Sort of mansplaning down.

I’m the person who wrote the first post above about the 4 girls promoted to the 07 team over the last 4 years. I’m not the “big guy” fwiw.

My post was simply a response to the post on Sunday night at 9:18 pm from you or someone else claiming that not 1 single girl had been promoted from the second team. I gave you several examples from the 07 team that disproved your point, and I am glad you later acknowledged that at least 1 girl was promoted from the second team to the first team. The girl promoted for the U13 season - and who now starts as a midfielder - played for several years on the second team before being promoted. You’re correct that the player promoted this year was new to the club and with the second team for only a short time. However the two starting center backs for the first team were each with BSC for multiple seasons before their respective promotions. One was there from the beginning and was promoted at U11. The other - you call her athletic and raw - came from outside the club, was originally placed on the third team at BSC, was later promoted to the second team and stayed there for over a year, and then was promoted to the first team for the U12 season.

I’m not trying to toe the party line - BSC has its share of problems, similar to other clubs - but it’s not accurate for you to say “there is no promotion from within.” There is promotion, as I have shown you with the 07s.

If you instead want to claim “promotion is very difficult at BSC,” then I’d agree with you. Based on what I’ve seen, it appears a girl needs to be able to supplant an existing starter in order to be promoted from the second team to the first team. That’s hard to do. I’d guess it’s the same at other clubs, but I’ll admit that I don’t know that for sure.

Do you agree or disagree with the inital post that started this? BSC has fluid transition between the clubs. It does not. We have been with the club and played with all the kids you quoted. 1. the kid who went up at U11 got screwed at tryouts. She should have been up. The 2nd did not play a full season on 2nd team but I would agree she is an example of fluidity in that she played up some before getting pulled up. Thats it. Nothing since they went 11 v 11 2 years ago. Not even a call up unless you count the kid that got demoted from 1 who played a bit up at start of season. THERE IS 0 FLUIDITY. It is not a situation where they are working together as a club with 1 and 2 where some 2 players get moved up. Never happens

You’re correct. It is not fluid. BSC has never been a club where second team practices with the first team. Few clubs do this in my experience, but BSC is not one of them.

However, girls from second team are given looks in practices with first team. With the 07s, there have been at least 5 girls on the second team who’ve attended more than 1 practice with first team since practices resumed in June. 1 of those girls was the player promoted mid-year, but 2 of the other 4 attended close to 10 practices. In other words, they were clearly being given a look by the coaches.

This has been true in prior years as well going back to when GB coached the top team. Multiple second team players have practiced at times with the first team. These were tryouts for those players, and some were not asked back after only a practice or two.

These examples are not “fluidity,” so you and I are in agreement there. But to be fair, girls from second team are given looks on the first team from time to time. Maybe not as much as players or parents would like, and maybe not as much as other clubs do it, but I don’t know that.

Holy craze balls.

I heard this parent group was Looney Tunes, but wow. Is this for real?

You all are doing a perfect job , between your coach’s reputation , and posts like this , fending off any good talent that you might have been able to pull in. I guess the only option will be to pull kids up from the second team, if they’ll even want to deal with this nonsense. Bahahahahah.

This might be the craziest stream of posts I’ve ever seen.

Too many good options nowadays to want to play here. Yikes.

Wowzers.......

This is one parent gone bonkers. There may be crazies, but not like this. I wouldn't rate an entire club on one parent whose dd hasnt made 1st team.

I've witnessed the parents from one BSC boys academy team a few times.

They all need straight jackets.

You can guess the year.

Anonymous wrote:Nothing but a bunch of Bethesda Haters posting. 07, 06, and 05 are all ranked in the top 10 in Maryland. Thats better than any other B team in any other club in the state of Maryland. Your other options are smaller club EDP teams. At this level the only thing that matters is your DD is comfortable with the and her teammates. USYS EDP and ECNL RL are pretty much level competition wise.

Bethesda does in fact care about its RL teams and the level of coaching in most cases will be better than what you find at EDP clubs.

Again, choose the environment thats best fitting for your DD, not the club or league.

This. The level of craziness in parents vary greatly from year to year as well as club to club. Bethesda Haters need to stop throwing stones in glass houses. I do not know a single club that does not have multiple teams with multiple issues.

Go to practices at different clubs. See how your DD reacts to the coaches. Observe other parents. Looks for small groups of "cliques" together.

Again this isn't a Club issue, it's a travel soccer issue. We are fortunate that we are happy all around in our year at Bethesda. We also know there are problems with other years. Most of these problems are due to parents, not the kid or the coach.

Lastly, it's tough to break into the top team at any elite club when coming from the outside or the 2nd team. Nothing new there either. Seems to me this thread has gotten taken over by both crazy Bethesda Hater Parents AND crazy Bethesda Parents.

Grow up.
