I don't know that they have a "top."

If they unexpectantly lose a economics major who is one race or gender, they might try to replace that person. But I don't think they throw everyone onto one list and proceed down it in order.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall...

D got in off waitlist at Vanderbilt last night in first wave to College of Arts & Sciences. Has until Thursday to decide.

Why does anyone with an actual stake in waitlist movement have to post here? Most schools who waitlist kids let them know in good time whether and when the WL is moving.

There is a trickle down effect for waitlists. People just want to know if other waitlists are moving to get some idea of whether it's possible their waitlist might move eventually.

Exactly right. We're all, basically on edge as we look for signs about whether our kids have any shot to get off these waitlists.

Haha, you must not have a senior sitting on 7 waitlists.

For sure not. I hear you! My DS is on six.

And yes, although this is about him, it still about the family as well (as his decision impacts a lot of things).

So yes, we are all on edge.

+1 We're just watching because we don't have a senior but all of our friends with seniors are really on edge as they wait for movement on waitlists. It is a very trying time for everyone, the senior, the parents, the siblings, everyone.

Fingers crossed for you all that your seniors end up at the right place for them and the place they want to be.

Traditionally, how long after deposits are made so
Waitlists start moving? Immediately? A week? Two?

As you can see here, there were schools making waitlist offers before May 1. If they know they have room, I think they start making offers.

Don't want to say, but another T20. She'll likely stay with her original commit.

According to reddit, Amherst just emailed that they are not planning to use their waitlist this year.
