For all the DCUMers who think Dynamite is an accurate representation of BTS

Lady. 10 years ago people in this age range were making the same posts about One Direction. If internet message boards and social media had been big 20 years ago, people would have been making the same posts about NSYNC and BSB. Let people like things.

The people who are saying BTS is too young for DCUM are probably the same women panting ones Rege-Jean Page taking his shirt off on Bridgerton when he’s just 2 years older than Jin who has hardly shown more than a collarbone.

Well to be fair, Rege-Jean looks and carries himself like a grown man. He isn’t passing for a 17 yr old.

I find the fact that they are grown men but made up and presented as teens to be really disturbing.

I don’t understand what makes you think they present as teens.

I don't think BigHit is trying to present them as teens, it's more like to the western eye most Asians look younger than their real ages.
Maybe that's the issue with pps being critical of their looks??

As a comparison of what a teen versus an adult looks like in K-Pop, here is long-ago, 15 year old Jungkook. He is the youngest member and joined BTS at, yes, age 15. He had offers from multiple agencies. Baby.

Meanwhile, here is Jungkook today at age 23, sporting his recently acquired sleeve of tattoos. He's the same age as Kylie Jenner, Khalid and Jacob Elordi. The other members are all at least two years older than Jungkook.

Are the tattoos suppose to make him look older?

Maybe, or it's just a way of self expression like how we all choose to dress?
I read that BigHit tries to (discreetly) discourage members from tatooing themselves but he just went ahead and did it anyway.

Tattoos are not well-received in most circles of Korea. They're not exactly my cup of tea but JK has been wanting them for years, so good for him. Maybe they are supposed to make him look older, he's been wanting to be a hyung for forever. I don't think he's trying to present as a teenager.

This. His own company has had his tattoos blurred out in shows.

Do you all watch Korean dramas. I enjoy them because like BTS they are not trashy. I think their aesthetic sense surpasses American quality as well.

Funny because I think K dramas are too childish (I don't know how to describe the nuance, maybe not as realistic as American ones?) and vastly prefer TV shows/ movies here. On the other hand I love watching BTS perform on stage. Awesome dance and music.
