2020 class was a bigger class than normal. more importantly, they were a much more academic group than the norm for NPS. 7 boys to STA and 5 girls to NCS did not happen again this year. 2020 was a fluke. In fact, in 2019 I think it was one girl going to NCS and three boys all with a hook. |
PP, could you please share more information about this year's outplacement? |
| What is the percentage of bvr kids that did not go to STA/NCS every year? |
|
Lord! Both schools are good. Look at big picture and what you want for your kid and family. Some families pick BVR and some pick NPS. Parents have picked one over the other before. It’s no big deal. We got accepted to BVR, Maret and Sheridan 2 years ago. (WL at Sidwell and NPS). Believe it or not we didn’t pick BVR because even with two teachers, I thought 21 students in a class was too big for my daughter who at the time I thought needed a smaller setting.
Goodluck to everyone/ you can’t go wrong with either school! |
But aren't Maret's and Sheridan's classes the same size? |
| We had a choice between BVR and NPS last year and chose NPS. After getting to know the schools and speaking to current families we felt that NPS was a better fit and seemed to have an edge academically. In particular we valued the smaller class size at NPS for our DC and the clear approach to establishing critical thinking skills (Project Zero) and teaching literacy, math, and science. Both schools are great and I'm sure there was no wrong choice for us...but after extensive due diligence we confidently concluded that NPS was a better fit across various dimensions. NPS seems to have a well deserved reputation for developing kids academically, socially, and emotionally and we feel very grateful to be part of this special community. |
Thank you PP! How's the facility at NPS compared to beauvoir? |
PP: Yes! When it came down to decision deadline, we ended up not attending any and homeschooling. I’m going to be honest, I applied places based on prestige and based on this board when in reality when it came down to it, nothing of the places we were accepted to where a fit. |
+1. |
No comparison. Beauvoir has the edge in facilities. |
Oof, it's true. I know NPS has been itching to update their playground for a few years now. I think it was in the works before COVID. |
Even with updates, I’ve never seen a school anywhere with a playground like Beauvoir’s. It is just in a league by itself! Not a knock on other schools at all, just a huge credit to bvr playground. |
| Eh, you can use the playground on the weekends. Unless you want single sex education in the long run it’s not for a lot of folks. |
Lots of legacies/ siblings to STA/ NCS in the NPS 2020 class. That is the major reason for this number of acceptances |
Yeah ok! Whatever. However, the current HOS for NPS came from STA as well as the CFO. |
