ppl look at facilities, community, and outplacement. For outplacement, if you don't mind single-sex schools, the chance of getting into a big 3/5 is 50% lower in NPS vs. BVR.

If you strongly dislike single-sex schools, neither of them look that promising.

?

Why wouldn't either be promising? Kids go to co-ed from both every year.

I think more NPS kids are going co-ed than single-sex this year, actually!

Could you please share a bit more on this year's placement? thank you!

This year’s outplacement hasn’t been made public yet but I can tell you it’s a smaller grade (seems to be that way at many schools in the area) and the HOS and Admin did a fabulous job assisting the families as they dealt with outplacement in a pandemic. Last year’s class was on the larger side, and you can see their placement decisions here: https://www.nps-dc.org/our-program/seventh-grade-placement
This year’s results are very similar. My DC was accepted for K at BVR and NPS. Both schools are great. We sent DC to NPS and We appreciated being able to wait to 6th grade to make outplacement decisions. 3rd grade came really quickly IMO so I think BVR wouldn’t have been the best fit for my DC. After finishing at NPS, DC is now at StA/NCS.

Well said!

PP, do you also happen to know how many of the NPS - STA/ncs kids were not siblings or legacy?

From what I remember, there was 1-2 and 1-2 boys who had older siblings at STA/NCS. Definitely not the reason for most of the acceptances

How were NPS outplacement results this year? The tally should be complete now.

Bvr had 100% early decision 4th grade acceptances at NCS and STA. We were very impressed!

Does this mean that 100% of this year's B kids are going on to NCS/ STA? That would be highly unusual.

No. I read this post as saying that, of those who applied early decision for 4th grade, 100% were accepted. Which is different than saying that 100% of the class is going to those schools. Presumably the entire class did not apply early decision to NCS / STA

Probably have to wait until after the tuition lock in dates pass. Some students may still be undecided or hoping a waitlist will clear.

Correct. Of those who applied early decision, 100%.

That is correct. Only those who applied early decision. Families have a choice to apply early decision or regular. Early decision means you won’t look at other schools and commit if accepted. Some families choose regular if they are considering other schools (coed).

Wow. How many students did that cover?

Was it more difficult this year than in the past? Are kids typically still hoping for waitlist movement at this late stage?

This usually isn't made public until June, so correct.

How does Bvr's early decision process work? Do you need to pay a lot of deposits to keep your place? If students also want to consider other schools, can they stil apply for the early decision?
