Lol. Seriously.

So disappointed in this guy, who I liked before. Sort of reminds me of my childless friends who post articles about keeping schools closed. I have noticed they’re quiet now though. The situation is clearly out of control.

He has a kid in DCPS.

Yes, he does, and he pitched a hissy fit when the school (partially) reopened and vowed to unenroll. The majority of parents at his school wanted in person school per the survey, and there aren't even enough spots for those who want it. Now he's pissy at the school community.

This is not true. We attend the school, I believe his kids grade. I also turned down a spot. I believe anyone that wants a spot in that grade can have one.

1. It's all true. Stop lying to protect him.
2. There are students at this school who want spots but weren't offered them. I didn't say "his child's grade" but you knew that.
3. There are two entire grades at his school currently with no in person learning or CARE classrooms. Just nothing in person for these kids until they hopefully open spots in term 4.
4. There are grades that offer in-person but not everyone who wanted a spot was offered one.

There are classes that don’t have in person because there are no teachers to cover them, not lack of space. Are you seriously implying it’s because White that there are some classes without IPL? 🙄

You continue to make false allegations regarding what I said. I never said that it's Robert White's fault that there are some classes without IPL. I merely corrected your false statement: "I believe anyone that wants a spot in that grade can have one (an in person spot)."

You clearly stated that anyone who wants an in person spot could have one at his school, and that's not true. I'm beginning to wonder if you're Robert White or his wife. He's certainly petty enough to come on this forum and make up lies to defend himself.

Your quote of my quote is still accurate. In MY child’s grade, anyone that wanted a spot got one.

Everything that I've said is true, and you continue to make false statements. Enough with your WTU trolling here. Most Shepherd parents don't support you.

Say what you want about Brandon Todd, but the guy got stuff done and listened to his constituents.

Word choices that make me suspicious of their users:
"snowflake" to insult some or their children as "not tough enough" (usually deployed by someone not tough enough to have any choice go the other way)
"social justice warrior" as an insult intended to call someone more liberal or less cynical a deluded person, suspiciously only deployed when someone's cheese may be moved.

I'm sure this list could grow, but could we get past the poisonous partisan rhetoric (I assume you aren't of the party that usually tries to pwn teh libz with magic words like this) and just talk about what we want? The slime isn't necessary.

I would love to, but we need better candidates AND smarter voters. Brandon Todd would have been unlikely to support WTU the way Janeese Lewis George did, but people voted her and Robert White and are now complaining about schools being closed. How the hell did voters not see this coming with those two WTU minions?

Guilty and regretful. I just really did not like Brandon Todd and I wanted change but Janeese is bad news.

I voted for her, too. I did have my reservations about her, and I am not at all surprised of her position on this. Unfortunately, I just didn't feel as though Brandon Todd was effective either, and my other big issue was the gun violence. I'm not sure I buy into her proposed solutions for this but I know that whatever Brandon Todd was doing was not working.

Gun violence has increased under Janeese Lewis George, especially with her working to keep schools closed. She's another Brianne Nadeau with pie in the sky ideas but no detailed strategy for improvement. Everything she's done thus far has either been a non-solution or a plan to make things worse, and constituent services have dropped off too.

You are living in a fantasy land and/or are one of Todd's former staffers. The guy was an empty suit who did what the Mayor wanted, but nodded along with laser focus to whatever you said to him.

If you don't see what Janeese Lewis George is doing and who she's talking to then that's your own choice to remain ignorant. She's a very real person with very real understanding of how policies affect people. I wonder why you're really upset about her.

What are you talking about?! I’m not affiliated with WTU. I want full time in person. I just don’t see White as being the impediment. Some of the back to school crazies make us all look bad.

I'm keeping my kids home for now and I'm very skeptical of the extremist anti-union nuts. But I do sympathize with what I assume are the vast majority of parents who want schools to reopen for good reason. I think there's a lot of middle ground to get many people what they need, especially with the significant influx of funding from the federal level. I forget the amount, but I think it's going to be thousands of dollars per student. I'm sure we can collaborate and find a way to make it work. Minus the extremists.

My kids attend Shepherd, and we haven’t heard a peep from RW. I think the biggest challenge in opening more classes there is that DCPS (or whoever) started HVAC work in January, rather than, you know, the 10 other months the building was mostly vacant.

Can you explain what you mean by extremism in this regard? Those who want a full opening in the fall? Those who want hybrid for all in Term 4? Those who want to follow the science that clearly says that 6 feet distancing does not generate a meaningful increase in safety vs. 3 feet? Those who point out that the 11-kid cohort limit is not even in the CDC guidelines? Who exactly are the extremists?

Those who are pushing full reopening while holding up certain scientific studies, ignoring others, ignoring the current state of the pandemic, and excoriating the WTU.

I see this claim a lot that those who point out the studies that show the relative safety of school opening, during the current state of the pandemic, are cherry picking the research. It is never accompanied by links to the studies that they supposedly ignore.
Anonymous
are any of those links about school reopening?
Anonymous
None of these are studies, or even expert analyses of data, and none indicate that the studies showing the relative safety of SCHOOL reopening are wrong. Try again.
