So easy to dislike FCV parents, especially for the sock puppet thing. But I feel sorry for the girls. The older teams will be fine and will find a team if they have to scramble to find one because it’s a short term commitment. The younger girls will be disrupted switching teams and having to prove their stuff to get playing time. |
More collateral damage. Thanks USSF |
I believe if FCV were to collapse that the girls will be fine as many are strong players and will prove their stuff and make other teams, maybe even in significant groups (i.e. be able to stay together with close friends). This will push current players on other teams down to the next level team, making those teams better, and so forth. Or, TSJ will collapse and someone else will swoop in to run FCV. Maybe Loudoun would simply take their players and coaches (other than Bobby and CZ) and redistribute across their teams. The infrastructure is there for this and they all share the same fields now anyhow. Just a change in jersey. Anyhow, I think the TSJ facility is amazing, but not sure how it will stay in business. Thought this when I first saw it, and with pandemic even more in question. We shall see ... |

Looks like some consolidation is happening that people are looking for.
VSA - PWSI > VDA SYA - CYA > Valor BRYC - FCV > Yet to be named .... sure there's room for more to integrate and field even stronger teams. This is good for DMV youth girls soccer. |
One has to buy the other. One league is more valuable than the other and therefor one club holds the cards. |
| I'm not an accountant or an entrepreneur, but how does FCVSJ buy a non-profit whose non-profit status is what gets them their field space? And that non-profit has no assets to buy a for-profit entity. Not clear to me how this merger would even happen. TSJ has already paid money for FCV - they're not gonna be giving it away. And BRYC wouldn't have the wherewithal to pay FCV coaches. Their current coaching staff are all part-timers with other careers. |
Some have claimed that BRYC Elite is for-profit. Otherwise, yes it is pretty hard to purchase a non-profit. |
| ^^*part time coaches, at least on the girls' side. |
| Can't FCV just envelope BRYC as a non-profit into their organization? Plenty of for-profit companies own non-profit subsidiaries. |
1. Why would BRYC agree to that? 2. Why would TSJ want to take on a a non-profit? TSJ is a gym not a soccer club. FCV is merely an amenity. They spent more money installing their hockey rinks than what they paid for FCV. Their hockey rinks probably make more money than FCV does too. |
| Why are we discussing these made up scenarios that people would like to see happen or not. It makes no difference what we think on how it could happen. Unless the club tells you this is happening all of this is just pointless and a loss of time. Do you think the leaders of these clubs are reading DCUM on how they should move their clubs forward. |
No, but it is nothing more than interesting thought exercise. Blame the person who created the troll thread but you are free to ignore the thread as well. |
VSA and PWSI merging? Have not heard that one. |
At first it was funny and then interesting scenarios thrown out but now it's actual arguing on who is right. lol |
Joke or nah? |
