No. I’m very right. Soccer is one of the most played sport for girls. For boys, not even close. And please don’t give me rec numbers. Everyone plays soccer when they’re 6. It’s the first sport you can play. |

FCV girls moving to BRYC to access ECNL would create an exceptionally strong team at every age group. Let's not kid ourselves. Finding families willing to travel to a new location and then sorting out which kids to keep would be the difficult part.
If your DD is aiming for D1, GA blowouts are not the way to prepare for that level of competition. The best kids should seek the best competition, and I don't see FCV providing a path for that any longer. |
Except that it isn't happening. |
what was wrong? |
I am from Europe and have travelled all over the world and lived, with my daughters, in a number of countries. This is the only country in the world where soccer is a major sport for girls. Go to anywhere in Europe and try to find a team for your daughter to play on. You'll be in for a looooong drive if you can even find a girls' team at all. Or she'll have to play with the boys. |
It’s not a VDA pissing match. The poster got corrected for posting the wrong information in relation to the conversation and was adamant about it. That’s all...let’s move on |
That’s factual. Not only are we (US) the size of Europe, soccer is a big time girls sport. The fact that any country can even compete with us shows how bad we are at developing and scouting talent. We dominate on sheer numbers. If US staff had to do more with less....it wouldn’t dominate anything. |
Agree. And my DD team has friendlies with travel boys and has never lost. |
Definitely true. I know an ECNL player whose family moved to the Netherlands for a year about 3 years ago. No teams; she did training and joined a field hockey team. |
| And what happened next? Where is she playing soccer now and with whom did she train while in Europe? |
Came back here for last 2 years of HS/ECNL and went to a NESCAC school. Not a bad outcome at all, but between losing a year and dealing w/ the issues of a bloated ECNL roster - splitting time in front of recruiters, not a lot of assistance w/ recruiting from the club, her Dad feels like she probably should have had better D-I options than she did. |
| Interesting that the similar thread on McLean and GFR merging has mysteriously been removed. I would regard a McLean - MU merger as being more likely than most of these fantasies here. |
It is interesting indeed |
What did this thread say specifically. I never saw it. |
Something like McLean buys GFR outright. Was far fetched since GFR is connected to MU, at least currently. |
