| I'll make that my last comment on the value of Eagle Scout. You have a dug-in view and that's fine. |
just adding: overall acceptances stats: 48,011 applications 28% percent in state accepted 17% OOS accepted 28% accepted DID not submit scores. |
Pretty certain my DC will not be one of the 617 VA kids to get an offer today. Those are some crazy admissions stats. |
Imagine the 11,500+ OOS waiting on 348 acceptances
|
| And only 4% who were deferred from ED or EA to the RD round were ultimately accepted. Wow. |
I would say that you don't get it - ES doesn't count any more than any other similiar extra-curricular activity. Everything that's been posted (by you, I assume) is appearing to state that being an ES counts greater than anything else. |
I'm not PP you are referring to, never said it does or doesn't count any more or less, just that from your posts you don't know what it takes to become an ES, now move along. |
I have two boys that both achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Moron. |

well the revised stats make a while lot more sense:
16,060 total RD 2628 Offers 890 Instate (20%) 1738 OOS (15%) Combined offer rate 16.36% for RD |
And before Virginians go crazy about more OOS acceptances, the yield is typically much lower for OOS so the number attending will be much lower than 1738. |
| UVA admitted about the same number of students as they did the previous two years. However, this year, they admitted 25% of the class ED, which is 100% yield. ED was not an option in 2019 and ED was less prominent in 2020 admissions. That must mean that UVA expects yield to be down this year, probably due to students applying to so many more schools. Just hope they’re not oversubscribed. |
| Let’s get this board rolling!! Anyone get in?? |
Not yet, but I'm trying to combine three threads into one for results. Go here. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/0/960443.page#19604286 |
| My Eagle Scout with similar stats to OP did not get into UVA RD. |
Mine did, as did three friends in his troop. All Eagles. Pus they had the necessary stats. |
