How is it a scam? Its pre-algebra.

At our W feeder it's wonderful.

And, no, they don't need a minimum number as if a child needs the next up class and they offer it at the school, they place the child in that class. So, they do a mixed class of 6th and 7th graders. And, kids can take IM/AIM in 7th.

Yes, I have two kids in MS in MCPS. One of them has to go to the high school to take a class because there are not enough kids taking the class to offer it in the MS. Do you have kids in MCPS?

What class does s/he have to take in high school? Geometry? Are they the only ones in their MS? That would be weird. If they took algebra in sixth, then you are comparing apples and oranges.

Every MS has Geometry. I've heard of a few kids in MS taking Algebra 2 in HS.

Why do people say W feeder all the time? Why is it relevant?

Is there a website that tells the order of the (old) math. starting at compacted math?

like compacted/ prealgebra/ algrebra, etc? My ds is starting 4th.

On the most advanced tract, were kids taking compacted math in 4th?

You understand that every school runs things differently. And, what happens at your school may or may not happen at another school. We were told it had nothing to do with the number of kids and teacher availability.

It varies by school. At our school, we had 3 ES classes so 1 class was compacted math. The top 1/3 went into it compacted math. You can still advance your kid in Middle School without being in compacted math. I know families who did this at our school no issue.
