Ashburn is going crazy

It’s debatable whether the city or exurbs are greater hellscapes these days.

Do you mean downtown? I live in upper NW—hardly a hellscape.

Actually African Americans know better and stay in Maryland or DC

Lol. Because Maryland’s history regarding slavery is so much better than Virginia’s...

DP
The fact remains that AA in general would choose Maryland over Virginia.
Also Virginia was the capital of the confederacy, that in itself makes Maryland"s history so much better.

Get over yourself. I live in Arlington walkable to metro but I totally see the appeal of Ashburn. There are plenty of commuter buses, Reston metro, and soon a metro right there.

Used to live in Arlington for many years. Moved to Ashburn a couple of years ago to save $$ and to start a family potentially and LCPS. I just couldn’t do the $2k/mo. for 600 sq. ft. Anymore. Still in an apartment for now but double the space for the same price. I wish folks would recognize that there’s lots of ppl that would LOVE to live in the city / downtown centers but can’t afford to live anything bigger than a sardine box. And I’m well educated and not poor - just “‘poor’ for dc.”

PP here. Also I wanted to second that Loudoun does a fantastic job with commuter buses and has a metro On the way

Horrible traffic because infrastructure isn’t expanded with all these developments

Lacking good restaurants

Lots of racism

Boring

DC is racist, not Loudon.

Yea, right. See below. Most kids values and beliefs are reflective of their parents and how they were raised.

My Ashburn house sits on 3/4 of an acre. House was built in 1989 so it is older but the trade-off is tons of mature trees. And a lot of space.

You are the exception, not the norm.

Another Ashburn resident. I’ve always lived in a townhouse, so obviously don’t have nearly that much acreage, but both of the townhouses that I’ve lived in have backed up to trees, and have been very close to good sized tracts of open space. I regularly see hawks, foxes, and deer when I’m out walking around Ashburn, and I’ve seen bald eagles flying overhead close to the sterling Wegmans multiple times.

Omg, it’s not that far. It’s a nice planned community right up Toll Road, built from green field so no apartments or pockets of lower income, so it’s called Cashburn by locals.

If you want wide open spaces but still hit DC for occasional meeting, it’s the bees knees

Yuck to toll road

Yuck to rich white yuppies

Rich white yuppies live in DC dude. Ashburn is suburban.

It’s funny that this was their impression. I actually think of Ashburn as being pretty redneck...

"The fact remains", huh? Do you have data to back up this claim, professor?

And before making sweeping claims about history, do yourself a favor and read a bit first. You'll lower the chances of embarrassing yourself when you open your mouth.

Mature trees are great until they start dying. And at least on my street on Fairfax, a lot of big trees are dying, and they aren't cheap to take down.

This! Just had 3 80+ yr old trees removed. They were dying/rotting and could not take another chance of falling on house. Have had 2 other large trees fall. Glad they fell opposite of house!

Perhaps a few carjackings and armed robberies with a sprinkle of rapes would liven your dc surroundings?

I read and that's why I know VA was the capital of the confederacy.
You can do the same or use that thing called Google. It's wonderful.

Sorry ashburn isn’t red neck. It’s highly educated IT and tech workers. Many are Indian. Maybe you’re thinking of manassas? Or prince William county?

Ashburn is exurban but not rednecks... However you definitely start getting rednecky once you get to parts of Leesburg and definitely toward Purcellville.
