You just made my day! |
Yes, I find it very out of touch with most APS parents I know. |
and teachers! I'm a teacher who browses every once in awhile bc I sometimes just need a laugh. holy cow, I can't believe some of my coworkers (at my actual school) are so open about who they are and what insanity they write!!! it has definitely made me rethink who I'll sit next to at staff meetings, that's for sure. but also nice to know they are kooks and I shouldn't waste my time on them |
+1000. I'm so glad the moderator finally stepped in to put an end to the madness. Maybe the group could actually be a little useful again. |
| I am a teacher for APS getting my vaccine tomorrow. I can't wait to see my coworkers excuses now.... |
| What is the deal with the anonymous tweet about 25% of these phase one teachers/staff contracting Covid? Are there any legs around that? |
No, there isn't. If it were anywhere close to true, APS would be required to report it and it would turn up in the Covid outbreak dashboard for Arlington (there have been zero in K-12 schools in Arlington County for the entire pandemic). You only need two confirmed cases in a facility to have it be listed as an outbreak. |
Also worth noting that the tweet appears to have been deleted. |
| Does anyone know if ALL K-2 teachers will teaching from the classroom during that trial week, or just hybrid teachers? Trying to figure out if my kid’s teacher will be virtual or hybrid. Other teachers at the school have emailed which option they were assigned, but I haven’t heard from ours. We picked hybrid and are fine with getting a new teacher, I am just curious if we will be able to find out if she is teaching from the classroom or her house. |
If you look on the latest on AEM, an APS staff person who works with the superintendent posted that they did indeed announce 55 have been infected, however that includes staff not working in person in schools. The major issue is that there’s been no transparency on this unlike other local counties. |
Ha, glad to see that new “no more Covid talk” rule is being so well enforced on AEM. |
It’s also not just level one, and not just since level one went back 55 total cases since the beginning of September among over 7000 employees, or about 0.8%. Not 24%. |
| This data is meaningless. Anyone using it to argue for or against return is silly. |
| Why do we need to COVID data for teachers that have not returned to school? |
We don’t. No large employers are doing this for their remote work force. Why do people think schools should be any different? Different calculus for employees actually working in person, obviously. |
