APS Teachers In School for only one week of prep

If you all don’t think those people on AEM represent all the APS parents, I won’t think the teachers represent all APS teachers. Deal?

We don’t. No large employers are doing this for their remote work force. Why do people think schools should be any different?

Different calculus for employees actually working in person, obviously.

Yes. It’s the same crew of like 10 people that just post the same shit over and over. And apparently there’s a rally this weekend? The same weekend when many of them are being vaccinated? I hope these folks need to sign a commitment to return in person before they are given a jab.

Someone on AEM got it exactly right: "This fear mongering based upon rumors is getting ridiculous. It's no wonder APE has a seat at the board for planning reopening but AEM is largely viewed as a source of noise."

Also, it's very telling that certain extremely vocal advocates of keeping schools closed have been all over AEM the past several hours but haven't managed to "like" or otherwise acknowledge the post from the teacher posting about her vaccination and how it's "One step closer to being back in the classroom."

Oh my God. It will literally be a 10 person rally. I’m an APS teacher. We’re getting vaccinated- we’re done. We’re happy this hell is over.

It’s a car rally. Not sure if you were insinuating they would be gathering together.

I would’ve liked it if I was on there. I left because the APE people also got on my nerves. I am glad APS didn’t cave to them before the vaccine came out.

Agree with that. I think the risks are way too high for my middle and high school students giving current rates and the latest bad news from the CDC on projections for this spring. So I’ll switch them to DL. But so long as teachers are vaccinated, other parents should feel free to send their kids. Go for it.

+1 I had tears in my eyes after I got my conformation. I was so happy. I am on an APS educator group and there is a group of 10-15 staff members who are rabidly against returning to school. Much like in AEM they post over and over, beating a dead horse. Some of them are probably AEM members too. I think they are a very loud, tiny monority.

What is the latest on teacher vaccines in APS. Any chance they’ll do group vaccinations like FCC is. Get everyone the first shot in a week or so? Or is it every teacher on her own trying to get an appointment? Any estimate on how long before they can get all?

There is a system for teachers to set up appointments. Some have already gotten their first doses. Not clear how long it will take to get everyone vaccinated.

Just saw an article on ArlNow which seems to say that Arl Dept of Health doesn’t have enough vaccine to get all APS staff? Has to wait for more? Article is confusing but I think that’s what they are saying?

It was in Wapo. All states thought they had totals based on Trump admin claiming there were more doses coming. It turns out those doses don’t exist
