This. Her name was also part of the plea bargain offered to her “ex” boyfriend but he went awol. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. |
...which will go to a crackhead of a mom of hers... (DP) There was an interview on NPR with a journalist who did a very thorough investigation on the case. She gave all the background details, in a sympathetic way, but neither Breonna nor her parents are angels. |
You are truly ignorant in more than one way, and should stop talking now. At least these cops were actually put before a grand jury. Contrary to your little fantasy that the police are only targeting blacks, that is hardly the case. Your little scenario played out earlier this year and the 22 year old kid isn't going to get ANY of the media coverage Breonna got. Know why? White kid... that white privilege feels so good when no one will eve talk about you being murdered in your house by power mad cops who think they are Nazi secret police. Go look up Duncan Lemp, and stop talking so much, I'm embarassed for you. |
This is correct. Use logic. If the ex boyfriend had a bunch of dope how could he dispose of it quickly if the police had knocked on the door with a search warrant? If the genius police just use a water key ($9 at any Ace Hardware) to turn off the water at the street, the suspect would get one flush of the toilet. Where was the emergency in entering that home? No knock search warrants are supposed to be for heavily armed suspects where the element of surprise is needed. They should be rare. And the team is absolutely responsible for watching the home to make sure the target is inside the home. They obviously did not do that. They did not consider whether gunshots would go into neighboring apartments. At minimum they should all be charged with manslaughter. I'm hoping the DOJ investigation gets strung along until January. They absolutely violated her rights. These cops should be fired because they can't bring cases before a judge any more. The whole legal community knows they are liars. They are useless as police officers now. |
No. And you do not represent the "whole legal community." |
+1 I don't think the previous poster understands there is a double standard here, which is bordering on racism. Anyway, when you shoot at the police, expect lots of bullets to be heading your way. Sucks that sometimes innocent people get caught in the crossfire, but most bullets don't hit their intended target in a real gun fight. |

While the death of Ms. Taylor is tragic and there is no way to bring her back, the outcome so far is actually a huge victory for the police reform movement.
1. An officer was charged with a felony (search The Washington Post database and you will see this is rare). 2. The family received a $12 million settlement. 3. Charges against the boyfriend for shooting the police officer were dropped. 4. There is bipartisan support in the United States Senate for ending no-knock warrants 5. The city of Louisville also is enacting some policing reforms A grand jury has looked at all the facts and determined that charges are not warranted against the other officers. The system worked about as well as it could. |
My take as well. It’s so sad but this doesn’t seem the right scenario for BLM. |
Exactly! Don't shoot at cops. The boyfriend was bad news.. |
If the boyfriend was in the wrong and shot first, why wasn’t he charged with anything? |
Most accurate summation of events. |

I wonder if these anarchist wannabes realize that when martial law is imposed and they are crying about “fascism”, they will be the cause of the curtailment of their civil rights?
My guess is no. https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/09/23/breonna-taylor-protests-break-out-in-cities-across-nation/ |
He was initially charged, then the charges were dropped. |
