Didn't stop.
Didn't report anything.
Somehow didn't know the difference between a man and a deer (hint, a deer causes A LOT more damage to a vehicle)

I haven’t hit either, but it just seems like you would see a person flying over your hood. A person doesn’t look like a deer.

Just because the GOP is so monumentally horrible lately, I would totally believe that he hit the person, knew it and lied.

He knew he was drunk. This was a "managed" response on his part. Just my opinion.

The whole thing has a certain Ted Kennedy ring to it.

(And this coming from a Dem)

I mean come on. If you hit a deer, would you call and report it to someone?? That was CLEARLY to cover his A*%

Report it to whom? I’ve hit deer before, only person I’ve reported it to is my insurance company. There’s no reason to report it to anyone. It’s like hitting a squirrel, you gonna report that too?

If you go back to the beginning of the thread, I think people were speculating that it might have still been in the road when he hit it and that would be a reason to call? That way they can move it out of the way.

My father is a retired lawyer. He represented a man who hit and killed a pedestrian; the driver thought he hit a deer. It was 5am, pitch black, and he didn’t see what he hit. He pulled over, walked around, but couldn’t see anything. Turns out the man was dressed all in black and walking in the road.

He got off. He truly believed he hit a deer, and the victim was negligent for walking in a dark road dressed in black.

I think he lost his license for a while. No jail time.

Happened in the early 90s. Nobody famous involved.

In Virginia it's a Class 3 misdemeanor to hit an animal and not report it or render aid. Also damage more than $1000 to your vehicle on a public road is supposed to be reported. Not doing so is a Class 5 felony. Did you ever take a class to receive your license?

I would think the Attorney General of a state would know the law. Hmmm.

If he had even a modicum of decency he would have resigned.

If he had even a modicum of decency, he wouldn't have an (R) after his name.

I bet that victim wasn't on the shoulder of the road.

And I'll bet he was hit quickly with a mighty force to be thrown so far off the road that his body couldn't be found til the next day.

The cops said the tire tracks showed he was off the road when he hit the man.

Has anyone tracked down camera footage of the reception he attended before the accident? Did they interview the bartenders to see if he was drinking?

There’s got to be witnesses as to the AG’s behavior that night.

There has to be a will to do a proper investigation but you are thinking correctly. That should have been done the first day of the “investigation.” The family of the deceased should sue. AGs insurance company would at least investigate but they have a financial motive to find no fault on the part of the AG.
