Ok…you can not believe this.

Me 5’6; husband 6’5

Oldest is 15 and 6’1–he probably passed me at about 12.

Youngest passed me at 10. He is now 13 and 6’4 (projected to be 6’7).

Genetics are strange.

I mean, surely you realize a 6’4 13 year old is an extreme outlier? And that MOST middle schools will not have one?

Of course he’s an outlier. But, some people are acting like everyone posting about their 6’0 MSer is a liar. It’s not that insane—at his old public school (only 120 kids/grade) there is another 13yo who is 6’2 and at his current private (80 kids/grade) he has 2 boys who are 6’0 and another 6’4 kid in his grade.

I posted up thread about my bit over 6’ 7th grader and I agree his is far from the norm but he also isn’t the only one. There are a couple of kids in his grade his height or even taller. He does tower over his soccer teammates but is regularly playing against a kid or two his size.

I don’t think shoe size relates that much to height either, at least not in my family. I wear a women’s shoe size 6 and my son and I could swap shoes starting when he had just turned 8. I’m 5”6 so not short and it’ll be awhile before my son passes me in height I think. He just has big feet. All male relatives on both sides of family have big feet. Some are tall and some are not. My BIL has giant feet and is only 5”8.
