Exactly. |
|
Alright, a small drop today to 133 new cases per 1000000 per day (down from 138 yesterday.)
May the drop continue. (However it looks like we only tested half as many people... so our positivity rate will go up.) |
But now we are up to 146!!
Could someone please tell me why this isn't a concern? Even MD's official website says our positivity is going up. They have it as 5.86% today. I know we have some people on this thread who are confident that MD isn't headed in the wrong direction. Could you please come back on here and reassure me that things are actually just fine here? |
On the New York Times tracker, it's at 10 today. It's going the wrong direction, too, but not as quickly. |
according to www.globalepidemics.org MoCo has joined the orange zone.
We have very few yellow counties left; the least populous ones. An ZERO green. |
|
What is going on in Dorcester and Talbot counties?
Is that where the chicken processing plants are? |
|
Oh, crab picking?
https://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2020/07/24/dorchester-county-maryland-coronavirus-positivity-rate-rise-crab-picking-houses/ What is being done to protect our crab pickers and their families? |
Probably nothing, let’s be honest. |
Our crab pickers? |
Yes. We need to close the bars and indoor dining, yes, but also places where low wage workers are forced to work in confined conditions, like chicken processing plants and crab picking facilities. It will probably mean giving up normal meat consumption- presumable folks are ok with that if it means getting infection rates under control? |
nope not okay with that. |
I'm OK with it for 6-8 weeks if we are all doing it together and we can all suffer together (and with government help for those out of work) so we can all get back to normal. |
Our Maryland crab pickers. A vital part of our state's economy? I care about them and their safety. What are we doing as a state to help them stay safe? |

MD is registering 761 new cases in the past 24hrs. The positivity rate is slightly increasing as well (up to 4.77%). 20 confirmed deaths in the past 24hrs, +27 hospitalized in past 24hrs

Hogan still seems focused only on the positivity rate, probably because Maryland's seems low. Not one is talking about the rate of new cases per day per 100,000 -- which is why MD got dinged from so many North Eastern states. MD's rate of new cases per day is really high, and our (at the moment) low-ish positivity rate is going to rise to reflect that very soon. |
