MoCo added 84 cases today, bringing our 7-day average down to 191.7. We added 3 deaths (for the 2nd day in a row), bringing our 7-day average down to 6.3.
Our positivity rate is 10.29. For context, the CDC positivity rate benchmark for their Phase 3 reopening (their final phase) is 10% or less. |

Dashboard update:
We continue to be maxed out at 14 days of improvement in the last 14 days on: Deaths Hospitalizations ER visits ICU admissions Ventilator use ICU capacity Test positivity Test capacity is at 3.5%. We’ve been going up by about 0.2 per day, so at that pace, in about a week we’ll hit Gayles’ benchmark of 5% testing capacity. Acute care is at 2 days of improvement in the last 14, but again—the benchmark is 70% or less, and we’re at 68% for our 3-day average. Keep in mind that this actually reflects normal, non-pandemic usage levels. Cases are at 6 days of improvement out of the last 14 days, but with positivity rate going down, that reflects more testing, not further spread of the disease. TL;DR: Dashboard continues to be about as good as it’s going to get on reopening metrics. |
| We need more protests to prove no one is getting very sick or hospitalized of the not nursing home, elderly or illness prone demographics! |
No |
Well, even without waiting for results out of the protests, it’s obvious that the deaths are concentrated in older people. 88% of MD’s deaths are among those 60+. 72% of our deaths are among those 70+. |
On the other end of the age spectrum, those 39 and younger account for 40% of our cases and 1.8% of our deaths. |
| Are there any organized efforts to keep pressure on the county to move forward? I’m not talking about protests so much as organized business pressure. I feel like residents of MoCo are rather sheep-like (myself included). I haven’t heard of any push by any groups to move toward Phase II. Am I just uninformed? |
I’m not a business owner, but I hope they do get together and lobby. Don’t be a sheep!! I have no personal lobbying ability, being a fed who works in VA, but if I were a small business owner, I’d get together with my fellow business owners and start something. |
Asymptomatic infections don’t matter. In fact scientists and WHo came out recently with stats and studies saying Only infected people WITH symptoms are carriers or contagious, during their symptoms stage. Big news. |
| I think he is doing the right thing. Why are you guys so anxious to get sick/die? I am perfectly okay with slow opening. He is doing a great job! |
Umm ... you’re not paying attention. 100,000 people in MoCo have filed for unemployment. Hogan himself said Elrich is being ridiculous and doesn’t understand his own county’s data. |
Those of us who aren’t able to work for a living are worried about getting sick and dying from lack of medicine and health insurance and the stress related to slipping into poverty. This isn’t a holiday. |
Life > money. |
(channeling a UMC lib) “why don’t you just work from home? What’s wrong with you?” |
You can’t live without money, asswipe. |
