what does this even mean? what powerful people? |
I look around and don't see any ugly kids, truly. The only ones that may struggle are the ones with serious weight challenges. |
I have twin girls - one has white blonde hair and blue eyes, the other has brown hair and green eyes. People fawn over the blonde one even though she's actually more average-looking and the brunette is prettier. I don't think PP meant anything racist by it, but people react positively towards blonde-haired blue-eyed kids. I don't think that means I'm racist because I had a blonde daughter, and I hate that people comment more on one twin than the other, but I do see it happen. That may make them racist, but not me. Or PP. |
Uh, yes. They should absolutely keep that shit to themselves. It reinforces racial prejudice, and is especially dumb since we've seen half a dozen examples of quite unattractive blondes on this thread. |
My mixed kids are unique and that makes them beautiful! |
I’m an unattractive woman. Before anyone asks, yes, I’m a BMI normal weight and wear about a size 6 in clothes so it’s not a weight thing. I’m just not pretty and that is ok. I’m glad I had boys, because looks matter a lot less to males. I’d be sad if I had a daughter and she had to go through the same stuff that I did not looking like girls/women are “expected” to look. |
Many people love blond hair. it's weird. i have brown hair and had my third child is a girl who had blond ringlets from age 2 to about age 7/8. Strangers fawned over her. Now she's 10 and her hair has darkened like the vast majority of blond children's hair does. She no longer attracts crazy attention. |
To the PP, please be careful. Your daughter will absolutely pick up and your opinion about her looks and it could definitely have an effect on her self esteem. |
Exactly. I'm the PP who said my kid has blonde hair/blue eyes and so will likely be ok on this front. I don't think it's rational or reasonable at all, but it's the unfortunate reality. |
I mean if I could pick I would probably want to have blue eyes and blonde hair (everything else being equal). However fair skin usually ages much faster so by the time my kids are 30-35 I would prefer if they had darker skin. My girls have blonde hair and brown and hazel eyes. Their eyes are beautiful because very big and tending upward like a cat.... just like mine. They get compliments on them ALL THE TIME! I would never trade them for small, blue, green eyes |
The world over people react positively to attractive blonde women/children/babies. It's universal. |
Well aware of it, since I grew up being told by some members of the family that I looked like a scarecrow. DD is old enough to know what 'average' means. She knows that we're all basically average looking people, and is okay with it. We have talked about it, but not reveled in it. What she finds strange (as do I), is complimenting children on something they have absolutely no control over, like their looks. |
Hitler |
Please, Nobody said you were racist because your kid was blonde. The general “you” here is acting like because they don’t attend KKK rallies they can’t possibly be racist. Hitler referred to Aryan as fair skin, blonde hair and blue eyes. It was propaganda used to push the agenda that Aryan is a supreme form of human (or a “master race”) Like I said before, you can see a hitler quote on your throw pillow if you want, I’m just shocked people are so willing to publicize it. |
NP here. I actually think PP can see blonde/blue eye privilege and understands it for what it is. I'm not white, FWIW. |
