The state now has almost twice as many people hospitalized with COVID-19 as it did on June 14, when the number was at 2,287. This spike occurred after restaurants were allowed to increase capacity to 75% and almost all businesses allowed to operate with some safety measures in place.

And Desantis admits it's not just the increase in testing that accounts for the surge in cases.

Florida topped 100,000 cases on Monday and Governor Ron DeSantis acknowledged that increased testing alone can't account for recent record numbers of new COVID-19 cases.

Yes, and I'm *positive* protests have nothing to do with this uptick. Nothing whatsoever.

There were protests in red states and blue states. Plus, apparently initial analysis indicates that the recent protests have not resulted in a significant jump in COVID-19 cases.

Texas has 7500 ICU beds. 1200 are being used.

And, much of the capacity at the hospitals is because of non-Covid patients.

You're confusing two very different things.

I track the stats daily. The real stats --deaths, hospitalizations-- and red/ purple states are still doing better than blue states.

I confess I ignore the crazy "news," and I suggest you do the same.
