Why is everyone assuming that these " assailants" won't have a gun themselves?

Your own gun is null and void if the assailant sees you digging for it/running to the safe where you should be keeping it if you have kids, and shoots you first. In fact, they might not shoot at all until the see you trying to brandish your gun. Really great idea.

Our kids have grown up around guns their entire lives, and have their own. Our defensive guns are discreetly hidden throughout the house, readily accessible to any of us within a room or two in an emergency

Folks, realistically this is what everybody would have to do to be ready to confront an intruder.

Can you imagine the whole US being like this? What a dystopian nightmare.
