Still nothing, but we received this unsolicited message yesterday from FCPS:
VDOE has advised they intend to notify students of their VPA application status this week. I apologize on behalf of the VDOE for their delay. Tamra Ferreira Fine Arts Coordinator Fairfax County Public Schools And the VPA Gov School website now has this message posted: Selections have been made for the Summer Governor's School for 2023. Those decisions are en route to the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) today, April 27. Students and families should expect to receive invitations soon. |
| Anyone heard anything from the STEM program at Lynchburg? Please post once you do!! |
| My daughter has received a job offer from her backup plan and they want a decision by this Friday but still no word from (binding) gov school. When?? |
We didn’t get anything from FCPS (different program). Do we think they will at least use email, not US mail since it’s so late? |
| It said before on website that kids were to be notified by email. |
| The language I saw said US mail. |
|
VPA stated that students will be notified by an email from VDOE. I'm not sure about what other programs are doing.

Same position here. I assume everyone will know by Friday? But, I won't be surprised if the notifications are still delayed. Is everyone feeling okay with the overall programs this summer? Any concern? |
| My kid also needs to give a decision to her back up summer intensive by Friday. I hope VDOE tells us before then. This is ridiculous. |
| It seems like problem at VDOE level and hopefully not with the hosting colleges. Once they choose who is going the programs themselves should be great. This waiting is sooo awful though!! |
| The MST website for Summer Residential Gov School still hasn't been updated since 2022, but the Humanities/VPA site states: Invitations for the Summer Governor's School for 2023 should go out Monday, May 8 via email! Check your email on Monday! |
| Monday?! What happened to early this week and first week of May? |
I'd love to say I'm surprised, but at this point I'm really not.
|
| It’s hard to understand the delay. If the decisions are made, send an email. It can’t be that difficult. |
| The website also said the school admin would know before the students and that doesn’t look to be the case either! |
