Joe Biden denied communion

I agree. And they ARE leaving- in droves. Look at the attendance and sacramental #s lately. Most are forgoing church attendance altogether. You’d be wise to take this more seriously- kids grown up you know (yes, even yours) and public perception does matter in terms or religious retention, whether you think so or not.

Let’s focus on the rampant sex abuse in public schools and other organizations run by the state

Um, this IS the Religion forum. Feel free to start a thread about abuse in schools in the School forum.

And perhaps you aren’t aware of how widespread abuse within the Church has been and the extensive ways the Church covered it up. It’s unparalleled. Not sure how anyone could find that “hilarious.”

Lastly, it’s entirely possible for people to be concerned about and focus on abuse in both spheres.

Thanks for chiming in, though.

Fellow clergy. This pisses me off like nothing else. And churches wonder why they are hemorrhaging members. Fukcing hypocrites and money changers.

The bad ones, yes. But the good ones - of which there are many more than the bad- are being painted with the same paint brush as the bad.

It’s not the pastor’s job to be everyone’s friend. We pray for the many, not the all.

If immoral people give money to a parish for “social justice” because the pastor is a “friend”, there is no restriction on those funds when the new Pastor arrives to cleanse and purify the parish. The parish exists to worship God and sanctify and endorse those worthy of salvation. You don’t get to purchase baby blankets or Costco peanut butter and think that makes you “Catholic”.

Biden is not Catholic.

Not sure what your problem is, but of course he’s Catholic. My friend’s parents go to the same church as he does in Delaware. This would not even be an issue if he wasn’t Catholic, because Catholic churches don’t give communion to non-Catholics.

Yes - and what a welcoming feel that gives to non-Catholics when the priest announces that at a wedding. Not that I would want to take communion, but the fact that this is announced, always makes me roll my eyes.

Of course it’s announced. We view the Eucharist as the Body & Blood of Christ. It’s not just bread that’s passed around. In order to receive Christ, you need to be united to his Church. This is also done to protect non-Catholics as it’s a grave sin to receive the Eucharist if you’re not in union with the Church.

No he isn’t. He rejects defined teachings of the Church.

By that definition nobody is Catholic. Nit a single republican politician, most democrats and most lay people. Actually, even the clergy wouldn’t be Catholic anymore.

That’s correct. The vast majority of people calling themselves Catholic today are not
