Completely the opposite of the Christ they claim to follow. Jesus was pretty clear about welcoming everyone to the table. One of the many reasons the Catholic Church is hemorrhaging members. /recovered Catholic

I get what Jesus meant. He had good intentions. But he wasn’t a very good analyst. He didn’t count votes very well, and so the high priests and the Roman authorities outmaneuvered him.

You follow Jesus’s “advice” to welcome the downtrodden, and you’re signing away the election. Dumb.
