I'm the OP, and I do this too. It burdens only me, not her, and there is something concrete I could do if she didn't make it in the door. Genuinely curious if all you folks who text each other that you're home, notice if someone from your group doesn't text. And if she doesn't and you notice, what are you going to do? Call the cops because an adult didn't text you? The point where it would be appropriate to do that is what, at least a full day, right? |
Funny you should ask. I just got home from a short girlfriend happy hour. The organizer sent out a group text. Everyone responded except one person. Five of us called her husband. I think he thought it was cute with the first one or two callers but by the time I got through to him (because everyone else was hogging the line!!!) he was not as chippy about it as you might hope. Turns out she got home to chaos and forgot to check her phone. Since I was making dinner, I was going to ask my husband to drive over there if I didn't know what was up within the hour. I will still call. I would not wait until the next morning. Better safe than sorry. |
