No, she'll still receive royalties off the music they own. It means that Scooter has control over what happens to her songs, like, where and if they get played.

Her music sucks, so hopefully he’ll throw it in a vault never to be played.

She is obnoxious and Her frequent tantrums are getting old, but her music is no worse than 99% of the current artists out there. She caters to tweens and young teens and puts on a clean show. So long as that is her market she’s going to keep raking in the dough. And frankly - good for her.

And that’s why her music sucks. She is an adult pandering to teens who love ppl with no actual talent. Her music is just so poppy and not memorable at all.

I'm not a teen and I like her music. I'm not a fan but I like pop and her music is poppy. Other people don't like her music. That's fine. What does it have to do with her being unable to own or purchase the rights to her own music?

Stop! Taylor Swift was given the opportunity to buy back her rights/music and she didn’t like the terms. The point is she sold those right, like most musicians do, and left the label. Her current hissy fit is about the guy who bought the entire label/company - not just her music - and she called him “gross” and a bully.

She doesn’t have the right to bellyache and pout - and certainly needs to grow up.

The label made her. She also made the label.

The music industry, like so many others, is unfair, treats artists terribly, and has no business sense. But since Taylor Swift is obnoxious, it's fine!

The label that earned her 350 million dollars before the age of 30 and took a chance on her? Yeah, bad people who were mean to little Taylor and her parents! And then offered to sell her back her music and/or buy the label?

Where do you see her being treated terribly? I should be treated as poorly!!

So you think the fact that she wrote, recorded, and performed most of this music doesn’t mean she should get compensated for that work for the rest of her life? That the personal value of her artistry can gonto any fat cat who was smart enough to sign a contract with her?

I’m also assuming you’ve never copmplained about your boss taking early lunches, doing whatever, while they make more money than you do, and take the credit for yur hard work.

Taylor Swift had no idea, nor did her parents, that she would be TAYLOR SWIFT one day. She’s come a long way since those early days, and that’s where the industry both hedges bets AND preys On young artists.

You are shockingly misinformed, PP. Taylor Swift get royalties for her music! No one is taking credit for her work. She never signed any contracts at 15 - her parents did. If they made mistakes (which they actually didn’t from what I have read) Taylor could have left the label at legal age.

Plus she was given the opportunity to buy back her music and she declined.

And no, I have never complained about my boss taking long lunches because I am a grown up.

If I had Scooter Braun’s talent, brains and discipline (the guy was 100% self-made and a multimillionaire by 30), I would happily go by “Scooter”.

Yep, because he gets to sit back and work of the industry of others. His golden child (Bieber) seems to be crashing more by the minute, even though still successful.

Swift has been successful in her own right. She’s a singer, songwriter, performer. Like it or not, whether you think she can sing and dance, her success speaks for itself. She has changed genres, which not a lot of artists successfully do. She fought and won a successful sexual harassment lawsuit.

Here’s the thing, for me. She has a voice, and she uses it. So many women just shut the hell up and put up. It makes her “sound” like a victim, but the reality is that many women (and men) are victimized every day and never have a voice or a choice. I’ve been victimized in the workplace in countless ways, but I always had to shut up and put up to keep my job. She has a luxury most of us don’t. I’ve been physically assaulted, both sexually and violently, paid less, ignored for promotions despite better performance, etc. I actually applaud her for speaking up, because she has the body parts and will to do so, and I think it’s amazing. This is what the music and entertainment industries do to people, especially young people. Would you be happy that all your work at 20 went with no benefit to you?

I think the way she went about complaining was whiny. But I think her overall point about writers getting taken advantage of is a valid one. I wish she’d delivered the message in a less personal way.

Taylor Swift has always publicly tried to put others down while eliciting pity at the same time.

She seems to like to ruin people’s reputations while portraying herself as the poor victim, the one who got the short end of the proverbial stick.

Like when she told the world that Joe Jonas dumped her by phone.
Poor Tay Tay got dumped by the heartless Jona brother.

Etc....

+1. Taylor is boringly predictable. Always the victim.

Social media is the toilette of the internet.

America is experiencing the age of the "victimhood Olympics."

Everyone is a victim.

The biggest victim wins.

The millenials are particularly deluded by victimhood-culture.

This. Take it to the courts.

I mean, come on - deal with it like the adult you are, Taylor. You were given the opportunity to buy your old music and you declined. Your father, a major shareholder in your record label approved the sale.

So what’s the “Scooter Braun is a bully” and “gross” on social media.

Grow up hand handle business like a businesswoman. Your way too long-in-the-tooth for words like “gross”.

People are tired of her writing about all of the broken hearts in her life, now she can write about the mean old man who took her hopes and dreams that she wrote while lying on her bedroom floor with her hair in pigtails. Let's name the next album - Betrayed! or maybe Property....

There is nothing at all genuine about TS. It's a show. I don't fault her at all because she has built an amazing brand with loyal followers (who will surely roast me for this post). She is professional wrestling. It's fine to like it, just don't allow yourself to believe it's real or you look a little foolish.

Cried wolf too much. Now that she might actually need/could use public sympathy for a legitimate issue, she's worn out her welcome.
