The point is they care more about keeping brown people out of the country than helping people who already love her. So many other things to donate to. Like veterans health care and homelessness.....

I love how liberals are the only ones calling POC "brown people." Kind of negates anything else you might have to say.

This is hysterical. And at least it is on the up and up. Money raised going to provide legal support to illegal immigrants through actual charities. Until the #WallScam

So, that money is being given to illegal immigrants... why, exactly? Please explain why you support illegal activity. Thanks.

Oh boy. The stupid is strong. Donating to a registered 501c3 is not illegal. Even if you don’t happen to like their mission. Moron.

You're right - the stupid *is* strong. No one said donating to the fund is illegal. But the money is then used to "support illegal immigrants," as a PP stated, above. Are you grasping why this is wrong? Should we speak more slowly for your benefit?

No. I do not understand why providing a charity providing legal services or food and shelter to people seeking amnesty (or helping parents find their kids who were separated from them at the border and “lost” by our government) is illegal or “wrong”. Please explain it. Slowly.

Let me guess - you're one of the numbskulls blaming the U.S. border patrol for the little girl's death, even though it was her father who chose to drag her thousands of miles with inadequate (or no) water, causing dehydration, exhaustion, and death. Somehow, in your strange worldview, our government is responsible for the choices these people are making. Got it.

Your lack of compassion and comprehension is staggering. When I look at that tragedy I can only imagine the horrifying conditions that lead people to make that journey with small children. If my child was starving or her life was being threatened by gangs, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do to try to get her away from that. And read the stories about how border control agents behaved.

We all want yummy cupcakes, we should all wait in line.

Because there isn't an immigration "line"

LOL. You have to link to a "talking points" article for your argument.
No, there is no "physical line," but do you think it is fair for people who enter illegally to do so? What message does this send to those who are going through the legal process?

I am the above poster that doesn't care. If the person that skipped me was being beaten, or gangs were threatening them on the regular while they were in the back of the line, I wouldn't care it they skipped. I wouldn't care if they skipped if their kids were hungry, but mine were eating well.

And to the posted that said I was judging, I don't understand what you mean. I have no judgment, because both are the same to me. Illegal or legal. For what ever reason, both needed to leave their home country and I'm guessing that must be a very serious reason. So I welcome them. And I would be willing to house a mother and her children or an intact family.

huh

So who should receive help first? the innocent kid in NYC being targeted by gangs - OR - the one trying to escape gangs by entering the country illegally?

So do you allow the illegal immigrant from Central America to butt ahead for his cupcake while trying to escape an MS 13 member, or do you allow the kid from the inner city to butt ahead instead (for the same reason, I'll add, to level the playing field)?

I'd love to hear your response.

Well they would have to fight that out amongst themselves once they got ahead, but they both could get in front of me. If I'm living a relatively safe life and I can afford to wait, they can get in front of me.

beautiful response b/c it just supports how short-sighted this viewpoint is

Sure, let them in, but let them fight it out, as you wait comfortably (or hit another cupcake store). You won't help, however, once the issues arise.

Most -like 65-75% - of the illegal immigrants are overstaying legal visas.

Exactly how does a wall stop that?

A different problem.
I can state, with certainty, that those entering illegally trafficking drugs, or gang members, or trafficking humans, are not here because they overstayed their visa.

BTW - your percentage is incorrect. More like 42%.

Your utter lack of critical thinking is staggering. These were not people whose lives were being threatened by gangs. They are economic migrants. And the BC agents behaved completely appropriately and did what they could for her. Please educate yourself:

Please educate yourself. Have you spent any time in any of the countries they are fleeing? I have. Economic migrants are fleeing starvation, having to send their 4 year olds out into the street to work, and communities where gangs threaten their children and they can’t afford to get away. Please try to put yourself in that position for even a nanosecond before you spout off.

And yet in the travel section, DCUMers are visiting Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, and taking their little ones.

If this is a parody of a right wing response it’s pretty good. If it’s not, I can’t think of a faster way for you to demonstrate your ignorance so at least you’re efficient?

? You are comparing standing in line for cupcakes with escaping violence and hunger?

I agree with a PP... if my kids were threatened by gangs and the government was helpless to do anything about it, I'm not going to wait for the government to figure it out. I'm going to do what it takes to protect them. And if they didn't have enough food, I would also do whatever it takes to make sure they have enough to eat.

Do you think these people *want* to make this trek and live in the shadows in a foreign country? Do you think prostitutes want to do what they are doing.. or do you think they do it because they are desperate?

You should feel fortunate that you live here. For most of us, we will never know the kind of desperation and fear that these folks live through.

I am not for illegal immigration, but I do have some compassion for what these folks go through.
