If you drive a pickup truck in the suburbs, why?

To the seatbelt question, my truck has the front jump seat and there is a seatbelt. More likely that your son just couldn’t locate it.

You live inside the beltway and work in Ag processing? Really?

Glad DH likes having a truck - I hope he also likes global warming because he is disproportionately contributing to it by driving a lot more car than he needs.

My husband is a white collar guy through and through, but we bought a house and he spends weekends hauling mulch, picking up Craigslist finds, hauling lumber for projects, renting tools... He has an SUV but wants a truck for projects like this which are never ending.

EXACTLY.

So anyone not driving a prius or a civic is having a mid life crisis and trying to feel cool? You folks say the same thing about men who drive SUV's BMW's, Mercede's , Jeeps etc.

No not just a mid-life crises but anyone driving more car than they need is insecure about something.

HAHAHAHAHA

I drive a large SUV, and my children are grown. My husband also drives an SUV. We have many reasons for choosing them, none of which is because we are insecure.

What are your reasons?

None of your business.

So you are insecure about your reasons.

Nope...just none of your business.

You seriously need to get a life.

I drive my husband's truck because it's high up and I can see in people's cars. LOL. Not true but just a little. I really do like driving it though. I rarely drive my car.

My husband drives a double cab for work, The company pays for gas, insurance, maintenance and lets him use it outside of work. I love free and honestly the way people drive around here I'd rather they crash the company vehicle than mine.

We live in a very nice neighborhood. Every house has a truck in the driveway. Most are brand new. Us smelly ignorant trashy Walmarters love our trucks.

Born and raised in west Texas - it’s a way of life to have a truck. Something would be missing without it - even inside the beltway in NOVA. (And no, I’m not a Trumper - contrary to popular opinion, not everyone from Texas is a gun toting republican.)

These two statements contradict one another.

And there's absolutely no reason for you to own whatever luxury sedan you own, either.

If you're driving anything other than a decade old Toyota Prius, you need to STFU about what other people drive.

So we have a strong HOA. No vans, no trucks. Park it in the common lot or your driveway and towed away it goes.

Now you can park on the county road. But in the common lot, bye bye truck.

People like you are the reason that normal folks despise HOA's.

Anyone who attempts to tow MY vehicle out of MY driving is going to getting a shovel upside their face.
