Senate Democrats sending secret letter about Kavanaugh to FBI

If he got a girl pregnant in high school and did not encourage her to have the child or marry him, he didn't walk to talk he's coming up with now. Especially as a Catholic.

Let's play the hypothetical game: What if we learned that a man in his 50s raped a girl when they were in high school, then he blackmailed her into having an abortion?

What if we learned that a man in his 50s had consensual sex with a girl which resulted in a pregnancy when they were in HS. The man pretended he didn't know her when he learned of the pregnancy, and she was so humiliated she killed herself.

Would these be things you might find relevant? If so, how about we wait and find out what is in that letter before deciding it's NBD.

Is it suggested to be either of those situations? Do you know anything about this or just having fun spitballing?

I am responding to the people above who said that nothing he did in high school could possibly be relevant to him becoming a Sup Ct justice today. I am trying to gauge how far that feeling extends. If it extends all the way to those hypotheticals, then we know that these are just partisans who would support their guy no matter what. If it doesn't extend out that far, then we know that this inquiry into what that letter says is actually important.

If you went to law school - which I gauge you did not - then you would be familiar with this sort of puzzling through an issue.

Thanks, jag. (And I mean that as an insult, not as a reference to the legal field). No, I am not a lawyer or in the field. I was asking a question. I gauge you aren’t great interpersonally though. - liberal, was curious. Sorry. I won’t ask you again.

If this letter didn’t follow at the last hour all the other bull$h!t moves liberal dems have done since he was nominated... organizing protesters in the hearing room, Gutenberg nonsense, Harris and I am Spartacus, spreading rumors about gambling, calling him a potential rapist, refusing to meet with him, giving him over 1,000 follow up questions, just to name a few, and best of all proclaiming that they would not vote to confirm any candidate BEFORE their name was even announced, well then, maybe this latest stunt would concern me. Ever heard of the boy who cried wolf?

Sorry, given the tenor of things I tend to take questions as being in bad faith here. I mistook yours.

The Guardian is reporting more info:

A source who said they were briefed on the contents of the letter said it described an incident involving Kavanaugh and a woman that took place when both were 17 years old and at a party. According to the source, Kavanaugh and a male friend had locked her in a room against her will, making her feel threatened, but she was able to get out of the room. The Guardian has not verified the apparent claims in the letter. It is not yet clear who wrote it.

Feinstein has had this letter since July? And, just now referred it. Sounds like a big nothing to me. Just more nasty Dem tactics. Smear a good man's name.

I am one of the PP's before who was assuming the worst. If this is "all" it is, then it is a nothingburger.

How much lower can the Dems get? This is a waste of time

What have the Dems done? Feinstein didn't pursue the letter's allegations, someone (probably GOP) leaked letter's existence to The Intercept so the Feinstein gave it to law enforcement. End of story.

So now let's talk about all the times Kavanaugh has lied under oath...

Why stop at high school? Why not investigate his pre-school conduct?

He is accused of doing SOMETHING, but we won’t say what. What BS. Is this the Soviet Union? The democrats are the ones eroding our democratic norms, not Trump.

I will wait to see what this is all about, but color me skeptical that it is anything of merit.

An allegation without even alleging anything!

Yeah, he probably pulled a girl’s ponytail in preschool. Surely one of you would call that sexual assault.

Why stop at pre-school? Why not investigate his father's conduct, before he was born? That's what Republicans do.
