+1. 44 and married 20 years. Active sex life. DH has never expressed a preference, but if he did I'd tell him "you first." |
| Hair is actually healthier down there, so I keep some hair. DH has always been fine with it. |
| Nope. Tried it once. Ouch |

Nope, don't wax at all. I trim the whole area and then shave my bikini line when necessary. I don't wear super skimpy bathing suits anymore so I don't have to shave much at all. Usually just trimming everything so that it's neat and tidy is enough.
I went through a phase of waxing in my mid to late 20s because I felt like I "had" to -- there was peer pressure to do it and I definitely go the message that it was somehow unclean or gross to have a bush. This was also the era when everyone acted like you had to wear thong underwear (and that VPL was some horrible faux pas) and back when bathing suits were supposed to be as skimpy as possible. Not coincidentally, this was also probably the lowest my self-esteem has ever been regarding my body. And for reference, I'm a naturally thin woman who at the time wore a size 0 or even 00 even without dieting at all. I am so glad that in the last 20 years, we've made great progress on being more inclusive and empowering about women's beauty standards. On size but also on things like how women dress (you can wear revealing clothes or not and still be fashionable, for instance, no one polices what kind of underwear you wear) and the kinds of maintenance we do (not just waxing/shaving but also makeup, gray hair, how tan you are, etc. -- all of which were closely policed in the 00s in a way that was so shaming and abusive). We've come a long way. |
This! Didn't do it when I was single. As a married 40+ mom of 2, certainly don't have time for (or the desire) for that. |
DP I swim for exercise (indoor pool) so I also spend a lot of time in a swimsuit. |
| I’m trimmed and tidy, but I won’t go bare because I don’t want to deal with the expense and upkeep of regular waxing and I can’t shave in that area because I have sensitive skin and get ingrowns. Never affected my dating life, guys’ eagerness to go down, etc. and my DH prefers some hair. |
I travel a lot to warm places. The cold depresses me. |
How is it healthier now that humans wear underwear and clothes on top? |
| Hair is not healthier. It attracts dirt and viruses actually. |
| I just shave and keep a landing strip. I start to feel unkempt if I miss more than a couple of days. DH has never expressed any preference but seems happy with the current situation. |
| Bare only icky old people like Bush |
Do your research… Pubic hair serves a similar function to eyelashes or nose hair. That is, it traps dirt, debris, and potentially harmful microorganisms. In addition, hair follicles produce sebum, an oil which actually prevents bacteria from reproducing. It follows that pubic hair may protect against certain infections, including: cellulitis sexually transmitted infections (STIs) urinary tract infections (UTIs) vaginitis yeast infections |
No, this is incorrect. Are people really this uneducated? |
I’ve been getting a Brazilian with a landing strip since I was 20. About to be 40 this year. It’s just my preference. DH doesn’t seem to care — he’s just happy we have regular sex
