Some posters need to get out of their own bubble and read the entire thread. I am sure that OP asked this due to being in mixed marriage and it may be too hard for many posters to understand their situation.

In these threads you are always going to find the white racist asking why is it not OK for him/her to be racist. I am surprised by those claiming to be Indian and saying that it's not OK to look for other Indian families at school.

Not so surprising, there are a lot of self hating Indians. They disparage other Indians because they think they will be more widely accepted that way and don’t want to be boxed into the Indian stereotype.

I am surprised especially by the one who defended the white racists. What Indian in his/her right mind would defend a white racist? Or - as someone else said - they could be trolls. Or white racists pretending to be Indians.

What about white French immegrants, great Britain or east European immegrants? Is it okay for themwanting to find people with the same language and culture background?

What language they speak in Great Britain?

Anyway, why do you think a french immigrant seeking out parents who speak french will be a problem? A poster posted about Jewish concentration around Farmland elementary and no one raised an eye. Pretty much everyone does that.

Like another poster, my kids are Northern European white and we live in a MoCo school cluster that is very much minority Northern European heritage.

I look forward to my minority children being celebrated in their elementary school and I hope the principal is not racist and intending to celebrate only the black and Latino children, which make up the vast majority of my kids' school. It appears last year there were no celebrations of Northern European culture; kids who are actually the minority in the school.

Plus, if we stay in this white-minority cluster for high school, i look forward to my kids getting scholarships for being top minority student scholars.

White is now the minority in MoCo schools. Yay... free scholarship money on its way to us!

Are you racist or just a troll?

What language do they speak in this culture? Northern European?

Our white European culture is celebrated every day in our schools. Grow up. Get over yourself and realize that only your racism puts you in a minority. The vast majority of us welcome and value the contributions of our immigrant families.

We run into many Indian families at stores, extracurricular activities, etc. in the area. Also recommend India School as a way to meet similar families in the area: http://theindiaschool.com/.

Isn't it the opposite of diversity when folks of same nationality and religion clump together?

My mother in law and father in law were born and raised in Germany and moved here as a married in their 20s.

They never speak German at home so much my brother in law knows no German. Both my parents are born in Ireland and I don't speak Gaelic.

Yet I work with third generation Jains, Hindus etc who still speak with an accent and eat Indian food every day.

And they only marry each other and act like they are still in India. One staff told me does not do thanksgiving as that is for Americans. He is born in Queens NY and his Das is Born in New Jersey.

It is also funny I was only white Person at his wedding.

Almost 500 people and he and Dad born here I am like in 75 years in America I must be first white person they met

Right - the couple in an interracial relationship needs to learn about diversity from DCUM.

LOL, some posters have no perspective and start preaching. Most posters are not even bothering to read why OP is asking this.

Where do you think you're going to get a scholarship? Colleges look at minorities as a part of the US population not MoCo. Crazy.

Oh please! Jews, Nigerians, Italians, and other groups do this, but no one complains about. I've attended many socials throughout my life where I was the only speck of caramel in a sea of whiteness. I see nothing wrong with maintaining your culture, tradition, and wanting to raise your children in an environment where there are people whom they could relate to.

Really? I have never met a single person with South Asian ancestry who was born in the US and did this. Not one. Not one single one. Where do you live and work? US-born children of Indian-immigrant parents learn and speak American English, just like US-born children of Spanish-speaking immigrant parents, just like US-born children of Yiddish-speaking immigrant parents, just like US-born children of Italian-speaking immigrant parents, just like...
