To those upset at Trump over child separation

Anonymous
I'll admit it. I am a bleeding heart liberal. I can't stand to see children suffer. That's the bottom line for me. Pack these people up and ship them back across the border if we must, but don't make a child suffer on purpose.

Lots of bitching and moaning here and by political pundits, but no real solutions offered.
This is a crisis. And, it was NOT created by this administration. Another problem that needs to be cleaned up by Trump.

So, those of you complaining, hating, and blaming Trump - what exactly is your solution?
- What do you do with children who come through the border with someone who is not family?
- What do you do with children who come over unaccompanied?
- What do you do with children who come over with a parent who breaks the law by entering illegally?
- Where do you propose these family units are held, given that space is limited?
- Specifically, how do we enforce our border laws?

Catch and release, as practiced by previous administrations is not an option. It was one of the policies that caused this problem. Most of those caught and released are still here today, hiding from authorities.

How do we deal with these facts:

Since this time last year, there has been a 325% increase in unaccompanied children entering illegally.
Since this time last year, there has been a 435% increase in family units entering illegally.
Over the last 10 years, there has been a 1,700% increase in asylum claims.
We are experiencing an asylum backlog of 600,000 cases.
Since 2014, the US has admitted more than half a million illegal minors and family units, most of whom are still at large in the US.

Looks like Obama was doing a pretty good job on those two issues.

I bet if we compared the number today to the numbers under Obama, the percentage would be significantly more.

You’ve offered no proof of your facts. Where’s your cite? Pulling numbers from some shady bunch of racists like CIS, and aware of how deservedly reviled they are? What in God’s name is the justification for implementing this SPECIFIC TRUMP POLICY? You cool with border agents mocking terrified preK/K/elem kids who don’t know, literally are deliberately not told, if they will **ever** see their parents again?

You’re a faux everything - news reader, intellectual, human. Your wall of bullshit text is just that.

However, it just underscores that our values don't change just because there is a different president.

What’s worse separating citizens from their parents or recent illegal aliens from their parents?

Immigration status doesn't matter. Family does. Humans do. Aren't you all supposed to be pro-family?

So you believe this for all crimes? Rob a bank and you can’t be separated from kids?

How is looking for asylum any near equivalent to robbing a bank?

JUst because you live in a gang infested neighborhood, you do not qualify for asylum. If you did, millions of people in Miami, L.A, Long Island, Detroit, Chicago could seek asylum in Canada.

So you have no answer to the question: how is seeking (whether or not you qualify) the equivalent of robbing a bank?

Because we have an established processed here for legal migration. One that entails paperwork in advance - just like Canada, England, Mexico, and dozens of other countries. So showing up on our border and demanding residency (paid for by me) is tantamount to committing an illegal act.

Are we sad when drunk drivers are sent to jail and separated from their families?

Do we put the children of drunk drivers in detention centers?

We have an established process for people to seek asylum, and people who seek asylum are not committimg a crime.

These Trumpkin arguments are just nonsensical. You wore born a half century too late, would have made an excellent nazi, as apologizing for inhumane actions clearly appeals to you.

Exactly my point! If they followed the established process, there would be no problem.

PS - Thanks for all the insults hurled my way for simply stating my ideology.

Do I understand correctly that the children being separated are in those instances where their parents, attempting to violate immigration law, snuck over the border, were caught, and are now pleading asylum? Are the parents free at that point to say, effectively, "OK, you caught me violating your laws. My children and I will stay together and return home." ? Of are they not given that choice?

Dear moron posting twice in a row,

Border Patrol is refusing to let people cross at legal crossings and make the immediate request for asylum. Can you stop being such a goddamned liar?

I'm the one you are FALSELY accusing of posting twice in a row (and of being a moron and liar, the typical liberal insults.)

Other than that, I don't engage with liberals as hateful as you. Have a lovely day.

DP, moderate. The parents don’t have the option to turn around, as I understand it. Someone will correct me identify I’m wrong, I’m sure.

THANK YOU. Nicer response than the hater above, calling me a moron and a GD liar. If the parents cannot turn around, I have more sympathy, but the parents need to be more responsible knowing this is likely to happen. I blame the parents.

Also, from what I understand, they are separating children when they cannot determine the true familial relationship, and they are catching thousands of adults with children not their own.

Let’s all be honest. Almost no one cared about these supposed abuses when Obama was in charge.

He hid it pretty well. And even if he didn't liberals still would brownnose how great he is.
They even count his ''catch and release" policy as deportation. Wow.
