VT is more like an NC State or any of the A&M (Agriculture and Mechanical) colleges. CalTech is a private school that focuses on engineering and the sciences. |
No, the point was that VT is a Tech school so often the student attracted to it wants to major in architecture, animal husbandry, nutrition, vet skills, engineering, etc. so VT is not often the 3 choice after UVA and W&M. It's the in-state Virginian's first choice because of the specialized nature of the courses offered. |
