Tall women- do you like being tall?

Anonymous
I'm 5'2" and always wanted to be tall. My husband is 6'5" and our kids are tall. I'm so happy about it but I don't say much because there's a chance that the younger ones won't be tall when they're older. DD1 is 5'10" and plays a sport where height is a big advantage. She's hoping she'll be at least 6' and would be elated to be 6'2".

LOL my fave thing about being "tall". I'm 5'8 so definitely not super tall, but my pudge spreads out a little better.

There's a limit to this though.
My friend is 6' and can pull off being even 20 pounds over weight really well.
She's now about 50 pounds overweight and just looks massive. Like scaring children kind of massive.

Thank you

As a middle aged woman, being tall is great, but as a younger woman it really limited my dating and I eventually married a shorter man. He's a great dh, but met late enough we weren't able to have kids.

I'm not the tall willowy type like Taylor Swift, I'm more of the tall broad Viking warrior type. Even when I was thinking I was still broad!

One would think it would broaden your options. I’m 5’6 but most average height men seem to prefer shorter than average women… I guess I get it. It’s hard enough being a short guy without having your woman towed over you when she is in heels!

5'10'' and happy.

It is surprising to me who considers themselves a “tall woman.” I’m 5’7” and don’t consider other women “tall” until they are over 5’10”.

It was started when my now almost 8 year old was first born, and she’s just now noticing she’s almost a full head taller than every other girl (and most boys) in her class. I can absolutely see how it would be hard as a child and teen, but really great to hear that tall women grow to appreciate their height!

As a 5’6” woman, would love to hear any advice for helping her embrace her height.

I'm 5'10". I hated it...till I met my 6'4" husband. Now I love being tall and having our three massive children. It's fun.

I’m 5’-11” and hated my height growing up. I was also horribly skinny until my late 20s - a size 4 - and it was really hard to find pants that were long enough. I had the worst body image through most of my middle/ high school years. But as I grew up I became comfortable with my height and long legs and learned how to dress to show off my best features! And thankfully retailers now offer a tall size in clothing!

Same, but one downside is finding the right man. Plenty of men are tall enough, but plenty of tall men don’t have enough man (if you know what I mean) to really satisfy me.

Also, height never stopped me dating ANYONE.

+1
I'm 6'0. I gained most of my height from a growth spurt when I was 12/13. I have always loved being tall - I can see over crowds, I can put on a few pounds and nobody notices.

I'm married now to a man who is 4 inches shorter. I have dated men ranging from 5'3" to 6'2". I have never understood the superficial need to be with a man who is taller. Height does not effect how good a partner or parent a man is.

Those things don’t correlate, or at least not much. Lots of smaller guys are bigger guys. If that’s what you’re looking for, there are better ways than height to choose them.

Yes, this is the concern!

It’s like 5- 10 lbs overweight, unnoticeable. 15 lbs, still okay. 25 lb, a little zaftig. Get over 30 lbs, suddenly you switch to “Linebacker”…

5’9 and in good shape, but I often still feel like a giant when compared to my shorter, equally fit friends. I also know they say men like tall women, but I wonder if they prefer more petite women in bed. I’m all legs and arms and while I’m flexible, I’m all arms and legs. I think about these things often.

Another 5'6'er here, and I agree. I like my height but still view most men in this area as short.
