But I bet the judge wouldn't hop off the bench and tase her before the officers escorted her to her cell. I've seen lawyers act a complete fool in the courtroom, held in contempt and then admonished and dismissed. Only some people have the benefit of consequence-free, no death belligerence?? |
Not a bad idea. If the penalty was death, I bet there would be a lot less traffic fatalities. Oh, an the event would probably never have happened. |
I am astounded that people can't admit that she should have kept her flippin' mouth shut. Believe it or not, one can RESPECTFULLY stand up for his rights. Hateful comebacks and outright refusal to comply with a normal request is not standing up for rights, it's just being aggressive to rebel. I totally agree this cop is a creep. He way overdid it - and however she died, it's a horrible, horrible and undeserved result. I can admit he went overboard, but unfortunately when you push and test your limits with an a-hole, you're going to get sh*t on. |
+100 |
Yup. I bet you're one of those people with a chip on their shoulder that cant keep their mouth shut. |
I can admit she should have kept her mouth shut. And that does not in any way excuse the actions of the cop. The kid in MD. recently should not have stolen birthday cake. and that does not in any way excuse the man who beat him to death. With great power comes great responsibility. Armed, trained officials need to manage THEIR emotions so that responses are proportional to the offense. |
A bus, really? Have you no imagination??? How about an asteroid instead? Much more news worthy! |
ding, ding, ding, ding .... we have a winner. |
Are you really so naive to compare a grown woman to a child? |
| The comparison is more of cop to parent. Each has great power over a comparatively powerless person. Each has a responsibility to exercise restraint. |
Really? Thats whats what you got out of that post?? Wow |
The parent in question was an abuser. Known fact. The police officer , is a trained professional who participated in a situation that was on a downward spiral. Honestly, the police never know what/who they are dealing with on a traffic stop. She could have been much worse or much better. You cant compare the two situations - the inherent bias is totally different. |
As the PP says, I think that we should be holding the police to higher standards. Any statement that like the bolded is simply excusing police brutality because ordinary citizens should know better. The cop's reaction was completely out of line. I hope that he is fired, for cause, and that he is unable to get another job in law enforcement. If this is how he behaves when he knows he's on camera, I can only imagine how he behaves when no one is watching. He is unfit for the job and should be held accountable for that. |
Gee, using a turn signal and non of this ever would have happened...go figure |
We don't know that. If you look at the "crimes" that have gotten Black men and women killed by police in this country in recent years, it isn't at all clear that complying with the police officer would have saved her life. Tamir Rice (12) never had a chance to comply, he was shot dead for swinging on a swingset while holding a BB gun. John Crawford also never got a chance to comply. His "crime" was carrying a pellet gun through a Wal-Mart that he had picked up from the rack in that very store. Rekia Boyd was never told to comply, and off-duty police officer opened fire on her and her friends. Aiyana Stanley-Jones (7) never had a chance to comply, she was killed sleeping on her grandmother's couch during a raid on the wrong house. |
