Any bets on who was blackmailing Hastert?

Anonymous
I wouldn't be surprised if most of it is a set-up, maybe even the whole thing. I have no idea.

Just wait.

Some article I read today referenced more than one victim. Can't remember where I read it, I read so many. Something about rumors from back before he was in Congress.

A second victim has just come forward. This victim never asked Hastert for money. I'm sure more will come forward now that they won't fear retribution.

Three 'victims' came forward regarding Herman Cain. When the first didn't work, a second came forward. When the second didn't work, a third came forward. My hinky meter went off when it was discovered the she and Axelrod lived in the same Chicago apartment building. What are the odds?

I don't trust anything coming from the DoJ. There's always more than meets the eye.

I don't know where you are going with your post, but Cain had confidential settlements with two of his victims to dismiss their EEO lawsuits. M

Lots of times false accusations are made and settlements are done to just get rid of the person.

True. Could be a political vendetta of some sort.

Denny Hastert isn't running for office. I can't imagine why he'd be an attractive target for some Obama-led DOJ conspiracy.

Pur-leeze. He has been out of office how many years? if it was a political vendetta, which is doubtful, these accusations would have surfaced when he was Speaker of the House. Now that would have been worth it if the person was seeking revenge. That's what happened to both Livingston (Republican) and the Democratic Speaker of the House.

Are you saying that they should have swept this under the table? Just like Hastert tried to sweep Mark Foley under the table?

Sorry but the amount of cash he moved was what you would expect in a criminal conspiracy, like a drug operation. I'm sure the red flags went up long before they saw whose name was attached. And what if he was paying off someone for something government related while he was Speaker? It had to be investigated. Too much money.

It'll be interesting to see just how DoJ proceeds with this.

Why would he pay money if he wasn't guilty of anything?

The Department of Justice disagrees with you.

They don't care about him. They care that he broke the law.

How much did Herman Cain pay these victims?

What makes you think Axelrod would want Cain out of the race? On the contrary, I'm sure he was cheering Cain nightly.

child support?

Didn't he have an affair with a male student?
