It's comical that woman would have been perpetually single into her 30s - a Smith College gal like her would have had her pick of handsome and well-groomed Harvard Men. Then towards the end of the show she ended up with that ugly bald schmuck? Haha, as if!

The whole point was that she did have men beating down her door for a while but she was too picky.

Then she got older and she had to settle.

The point was she didn't "settle," she realized there's more to a person than looks and breeding. She ended up with the best spouse on the show, rich, and happy.

+1. If you thought she was “settling” for Harry you either didn’t watch those episodes or you completely missed the point.

She definitely settled from her earlier expectations. That's the entire point? Just because you settled doesn't mean you can't be happy though.

She was very happy with Harry.

She only settled for him in looks. He had money and a high powered job. She wanted looks, money, high powered job. Settling for someone like her would be someone who had a more regular job and wasn't very attractive. She was always going to be with someone with money and status. When she started her relationship with Harry most of her complaints were about his looks/appearance.

+1

It wasn't a huge downward slide for her. She only had to compromise on the looks. Also how many beautiful women like her are married to ugly high status rich men? Many. She was in good company.

Exactly! Besides he really really liked her which I thought was great.
