Where is CM moving to?

Anonymous
Question: Did they get it? And if not for sure, why announce it to your families?

Anyone could "get" a similar piece of property if the school could pay the price. This wasn't a competitive bid, best school situation like Shaed property, where a bunch of schools vied for the address -- but only two would prevail.

As the PDF brochure makes clear, it was available to any comers who had the money. KInd of like the BASIS situation. NOT like the Cap City or Latin journey to their fina home.

Just to slow down the rumor mill a bit--I called CM today and they would not confirm any new location. They said they're considering two different locations as well as staying in their current location, and that they expect to decide on their plans for next year in the next month.

Perhaps current families know something more certain, but that's what I was told when I called today, as a prospective family.

Not a "Shaed situation". No school but IT (plus Lee incubator) put in a proposal for Shaed. Not one.

When do people think we'll get the email after the lottery?

No email. Apparently a call or a postcard.

Good luck tomorrow everyone! Excited to find out who will be the new members of the CMI family.

As far as proposals you may be correct (I can't confirm or deny), but I do know there we're my schools that expressed interest and participated in the original tours including CM and Kipp.

May have been. But when it came down to final decision time, DGS only had IT's proposal to consider. It was either IT or not a charter.

If the application process was online and applicants received an application confirmation via email, why would they send postcards? If they really want to send them they should only be sent to those who indicated this is their preferred method of communication. Given today's closure, I hope we will find out something by Friday.

Completely agree. Seems very odd.

I got a wait list postcard last year and I thought it was their way of closing off communication to those parents inclined to lobby for a spot. They could set up a no-reply email address but maybe even that would invite electronic communication they don't want.

We never made it in, and didn't apply this year. I've never been able to put my finger on what turns me off about the school but I think this lack of openness in communicating is part of it.

Wait, I think we have the basis for the next great charter school...

How do I become a founder of this school?

Haricots Morts!

Ca c'est tres bien faites!

Thank you for noticing!

LAMB sends out postcard as well. Capital City however, emailed me, but I made the lottery.

And those schools have been opened for years with full admin staff. CM is only on their second year with an admin staff of 3 (including the principal) and still is expected to send out personalized emails to ever single applicant. Wow.
