What is the most insulting thing someone has said to you?

Charmed life, huh?

Oh - well OBVIOUSLY, duh. If I have the time to walk 5 miles, go to the gym - my life must have been handed to me.

Magic wands are on sale at KMart. That's where I got mine from...maybe you should pick one up?

It is DC. Great (normal) women friends are very hard to come by.

ITA. I have tons of friends outside my neighborhood and from growing up - in my hometown. I have so much more in common with them. They are not out to bring you down because they are insecure.

Aren't SILs (and MILs) great?!

You do realize they ask everyone that? In fact, they have to. Why in the word would you take offense?

My mom battled depression her entire adult life and unfortunately when I was 15 committed suicide. My dad was REALLY shocked and thrown into severe grief that he was not equipped to handle. One night we were arguing and he said "This is why you mom killed herself, you are so hard to deal with." Hearing that really was the worst moment of my life. I was 90 percent sure it was his grief talking but it was still a very intense and awful moment. I told my aunt the next days whos extreme dismay reinforced to me that it wasn't true and she showed me the love I needed to feel. In hindsight it was a true blessing because my aunt and uncle demanded my dad get into therapy or we (the kids) would be taken to live with them. It snapped my Dad out of it and he did get therapy and things did get significantly better from that point on. But man, I remember that argument so vividly and the feeling in my stomach when he said those words!

I was about 21 and moving in to one of those large apartment buildings on Connecticut Ave. There was a group of old ladies sitting in the lobby while I was hauling stuff through. One of them said "You know, I always had to work hard to keep my weight in check as a younger girl, but I never let myself go like that"...referring to me of course. Yes I was overweight.

Um, no. Charmed because that is the most insulting thing ever said to you.

They never used to ask me that question. Maybe they changed their policy right around the time that I was really focusing on fitness, getting in shape....bad timing in my case. It's sort of the same thing as when you first stop being carded for alcohol - the person in front of you has to show their ID, but when it's your turn - no, the clerk doesn't even ask....

I would never give a clerk a hard time for asking those, though. I'm not that much of a diva, I know that they are just doing their jobs.

I am so sorry. I honestly teared up reading this. Grief can be a very ugly time and can make people do/say terrible things, but I feel for your younger self. Truly.

at my HS reunion several people said "....I'm sorry but I don't remember you...". and I went to a small private!

I've had several people assume I'm liberal because I don't fit the conservative stereotype.

Apparently I listen to music, eat the foods of and dress only the way liberal women do....

someone actually said once "..You're liberal aren't you?" I think she was shocked beyond when she realized that she assumed wrong....

"What are you?"

"This is America, we don't like your kind."

"*ucking foreigner"

"How far along are you?" (3 years postpartum)

"Your so-called religion is false. If you don't believe J.C. is your savior, you will burn in hell for all of eternity." (Grew up in the South, there was this and many other variations of this.)

My son's school picture was the school's "mascot" picture. A mom "friend" said, and I quote, "his picture was chosen because he's bi-racial". Not that he's very cute, or handsome, but because he's bi-racial. Who talks like that?
