You realize that "race" has no biological basis, right? There was never a "first" and there will never be a "last." That isn't to say that race isn't real in a social/societal context, but it's as biologically arbitrary as tall/short, blue/brown eyes, etc.

Why is it a GOOD thing for America that it is fast becoming a country of bi-racial individuals? I don't see it as GOOD or BAD; it just is. Saying mixed race families are GOOD for America can be construed as it being BAD that we maintain same race families. What do I say to my child who has two DARK SKIN parents when someone like you says that mixed race families are GOOD for America? Are you saying that because mixed race children are the "acceptable minority"? Are you saying that because the "exotic look" of a mixed race child is what is generally accepted? It just doesn't make sense. What would be GOOD is tolerance and understanding of every race and ethnicity.

Wow! I had to check out the commercial to see what all the fuss was about..I have seen this commercial many times and not once did I even notice it was an interracial family featured. It was just a cereal ad for me. Only people actually looking for things to complain and whine about would make a big deal of this. Wake up! We are all people, human beings, with feelings, ideas, lives, families. All the complainers, and racists are the ones who have brought this to everyone's attention. Was this cast on purpose? Probably, but who cares? All I saw was a family, and so would any other normal, adult, thinking person. I hate the use of the word "tolerance". It makes it sound like people of difference races etc are to be "tolerated". Geez, how disgusting is that? We should all be "accepting" and embracing our differences.

I just happen to know many people who have a more diverse heritage than mine whom I think are exceptionally good looking people. I love seeing different combinations of hair colors and textures, eye colors and shapes, richly colored skin tones and fresh looking faces. If you think the idea of mixed race people are distasteful, or are generally stating that "their" looks are distasteful, you are a ranting, ignorant, hate mongering loser, in my book, and you are damn ugly to boot. Agree. The whole "mixed is more beautiful" is fetishizing and elevating what is normal as somehow superior. If you think it's fine to say/believe this, what's so wrong about the belief that Northern Europeans are the most beautiful?

I'm sure there have been studies done, just like there are stuidies that people with evenly balanced features are perceived as more attractive.

I don't think there have been studies done on this. I have personally met mixed race people whom I did not find attractive at all. If facial beauty is based on symmetry more than anything, it really doesn't matter what race or mix of races you are.
