Racists Very Upset Over Interracial Family in Cute Cheerios Commercial

How is this:

I didn't offer to explain. I said that when an opinion differs from your own, it's best to ask why they hold the viewpoint

said to someone whose opinion differs from your own, not an invitation to ask why you hold your viewpoint?

How about this? Why don't you go back and read *the entire statement*? Have you even done that or are you just piggy-backing on another person's beef?

Guys, stop feeding the racist anti-interracial marriage troll. Racists don't change through logic and explanations. It's a futile endeavor.

Constantly using the word racist (and calling someone one) doesn't matter it so.

"triple swirl" - that's great. I need to use that. We are a triple swirl family too!!

Calling someone a racist doesn't make it so. Being against interracial marriage, however, makes someone racist. The denial or inability to be honest with oneself doesn't matter.

As a grown up I remember thinking this fondly but know it would be an unjust and gross law, just like laws preventing interracial marriages were gross and unjust.

I find this viewpoint distasteful. Why the fascination with mixed children looking beautiful?

Because they usually are.

Signed, AA woman whose sister married a white guy and has 2 mixed beautiful children. Sorry.

I disagree. The fascination with how mixed children look is pretty gross (not to mention that mixed adults are usually average in the looks dept).

Genetic diversity is a very good thing - in terms of health and fitness, and it's pretty natural that mixed people are almost always very attractive. There's probably some evolutionary mechanism at work - who we're attracted to is generally rooted in some biological drive.

Your sister's children may very well be beautiful. However, my child is absolutely gorgeous and he is not mixed. He is just straight up, straight up one race, and all his features fell in perfectly on his smooth bronzed skin. I think that a poster was making is that not all mixed kids are beautiful, or any more beautiful than non-mixed kids. My child being a perfect example

I have seen good-looking children who are the result of two unattractive people. I have seen two very attractive people have the offspring that looked like an iguana, that is all the features were misplaced on the child. I have seen mixed children who were unattractive and I have seen mixed children who are very attractive. The point is that genetics being what they are, you have no idea what a kid will look like until the final product is complete.

Yes, of course. But the overall trend is that genetic diversity = healthier, better looking people. It's not 100%, but more often than not it is the case.

The commerical was a stroke of genius. General Mills got exactly what they wanted - lots and lots of attention.

Totally agree. It's like their ad people saw the bump that JC Penney got after their two-moms mothers day ad, and said, how can WE get some of that?

Adorable ad. Don't believe for a second that it wasn't a FULLY calculated marketing move.
