Transgendered woman in the womens locker room

Anonymous
I think everything must be handled with common sense. Being trans myself, I understand both sides of the argument. However being a victim of sexual assault because I am trans I also think of my own safety. Its true that I don't plan my life around what someone else thinks, but I don't go out of my way to invite trouble. I would simply go somewhere that was trans friendly or stay at home.

Does anyone have info if she has a penis or not?

That's the issue, we have no nakedness hang ups. I just don't want a stranger man (because that's what he is to my child) walking around naked by my daughter. I have to cover up to breastfeed my child but these people can just hang out like that?

How aren't they ashamed?

In a sauna? Why should they have clothes on?

On the other hand, why shouldn't you be covered in an area when everyone else is? Typically there aren't naked people of either gender in shopping malls and restaurants----but you want to sit there all naked.

ok, the other shoe drops....
Is there a term for a non-internet troll?

I'm not sure I understand this. She's a massage therapist. It was stated in the original article. She has reviews online where people say she is a good massage therapist.

What does that have to do with Spa World? Or the other shoe?

Who are you accusing of being a non-internet troll?
more than a massage therapist, Suiying RUNS a spa service, therefore knows more about the issues than the typical person. This is all probably a publicity grab.

Wow you are quite a detective! The second line of the original post reads:

Riya Suising is a business owner, a certified massage therapist

I think many of us might have a guessed that her business was one that provided massages. It also appears that she's got a mobile practice, providing massages in people's homes or hotel rooms or places of business. She doesn't have a locker room, or sauna, or bade pool.

If you're saying that, because she's a massage therapist she might have been able to anticipate that some people are not comfortable with her gender identity, I would go one further and say that I'm pretty certain that all transgender individuals are aware that people are uncomfortable. That doesn't mean that going about her life is a "publicity grab".

"These people." Nice, pp.

My friend raves about the massages at Spa World, but I guess I'll never know. I'd feel as uncomfortable there as at a country club that excludes Jews.

Um, you don't have to cover up to nurse your child - anywhere, but especially not in a locker room where everyone's naked because it's, you know, a locker room.

It is hard for me to answer this question. Honestly, I am so uncomfortable being in a locker room or spa with other nude women with female genitals. Would I be more uncomfortable in a locker room or spa with a nude transgendered woman with male genitals? Yes, but only marginally so. So Spa World is not the place for me regardless.

Everyone has the right to have their own comfort level. I can feel uncomfortable sitting next to a black person in a restaurant. i can even go to the owner and complain. But that owner CANNOT go to the black customer who is simply sitting there enjoying a meal and require him to leave because I feel uncomfortable.

So please propose how it should be determined whether to let someone stay or not. The woman in question was NOT engaged in any inappropriate behavior and was following the spa rules. She produced a drivers license indicating she was a female. Yet she made some other customers "uncomfortable" with her appearance. Please share what the determining factor(s) should be to require that person to leave.

Stop. Like it our not, this is still choice they're making. I respect that they made this difficult decision. But to compare this with AA who were judged not by the content of their character, but by the color of their skin is an insult.

This really isn't the civil rights issue of our time.

Exactly.

Then what is the civil rights issue of our time? Please enlighten us PP.

What would stop straight men from hanging out in the women's section, if they claimed that they were transgendered? Is there a limit to anything?

Have you ever met a transgendered person? It's not like this woman is just claiming she's transgendered to hang out in the women's section. She lives her whole life as a woman. It's not some kind of ploy to see you naked, I promise.

And lay off the pearl clutching about IS THERE A LIMIT TO ANYTHING? It makes you look hysterical.
